Weekly Chat, Sunday, October 24, 2010

It is that time for a new thread again. We continue from  Weekly Chat, Sunday, October 17, 2010 Last week had so many fascinating topics I am not sure what should be carried forward.

It was such an eclectic mix, my  memory is of birthdays, bears, steam engines, hedgehogs, hummingbirds, osprey pictures, computers,  relativity, quantum mechanics and cats of  all types. No doubt it will be repeated in the week to come.

Oh I forgot. Outlaws and inlaws! :)

  • Folks. It is 150 days until we can expect EJ to swoop into Loch Garten. See here.

  • Whoopee Tiger, tried to  view the clock earlier today but would not open for me.

  • Good afternoon DjoanS how wonderful to watch an otter for that length of time.  You must have been thrilled to bits.

Had a bit of a nap and now looking forward to OH coming home later tonight.  I would think it was a most distressing day.  Pouring with rain all day in Glasgow as it has here and it is so dark, will have to give in soon and put some lights on.

george g I couldn't reply to your post for some reason although if I go to the daily chat page I can get in.  You are right bad news about tsunami, it would seem to have caused a lot more damage and deaths than first thought.  As you say we moan about our weather but at least we don't have things like this to contend with.

  • Woo hoo! I'm alive! We just had tornadoes blow through our area. Damage everywhere around the region, but my Dad and I are fine. Our poor birds are still scolding and alarm calling. The power was out for a long time because the wind uprooted a pole holding the area's major electrical lines. Kind of a nerve wracking morning. Think I'll take a nap now. LOL

Joan, thanks for the lighthouse photo. Dad and I loved it! I'll catch up with everyone soon.

  • Margo here is another link to try if ever you can't get the countdown again. This is mine. I did the EJ clock in the first place, couldn't put it in webspace at the time so a friend of ours very kindly obliged as she had done it last year. She also set me on the right track re learning about html and web page design. I still don't have a working website as such but do have a hosted domain where I can put stuff as I am learning.

  • OMG Diane! That must be sooo scary! So glad to hear you are ok.

  • Thanks, Chloe! I don't think we had any fatalities, but it was a crazy morning. Lots of trees uprooted, semi trucks turned over, etc.

Just heard about the tsunami. So very sorry for those folks.

  • afternoon all.

Sorry I haven't been around much recently, had family visitors (gone now) and lots of other crazy stuff too boring to go into.

I came on now mainly to see if Diane was Ok and thankfully I can see you are:) Here in CT we are spared any of it but it looks a monster of a storm. Glad you're safe even if it was a rough time for you and your dad. Thank goodness.

Haven't had a chance to read back much but had a chuckle at Tiger's take on "Paul"! LOLOL

  • Diane So glad you and your Dad are OK.  Severe weather is always scary - don't know how you cope with tornados and bad thunderstorms.

Margobird Sorry you had difficulty sleeping.  Hope you had a nap and now feel better.

Thanks to AQ, OG and everyone else who posted super pics.  Great to see what other areas look like.  Loved the 'poorly' Boxer.  He looked very cosy.

AQ Had a lovely bottle of Shiraz (Yaldara) from South Australia with our Sunday meal.  I wondered if you know the area and have posted pictures.

Had my first 'winter; walk along thee head of Strangford Lough with 2 dogs this afternoon.  Grey but mild and dry.  Saw thousands (literally) of pale bellied Brent geese.  I tried to photograph them but the grey weather and choppy grey water meant the pictures weren't good.
