In the absence of Annette it falls to me to start the new weekly thread. Continuing from Weeky Chat, Sunday 3rd October 2010
I hope you all have a great week and no doubt we should welcome back Annette before the end of it. Hopefully the other holidaymakers will reappear too. It is so hard to keep track of but if memory serves me right both OG and Alicat are also on holiday. A birthday coming up on Saturday (16th) too :)
Tiger Signature
LOLOL Tiger. Perhaps I will go on a 'shroom hunt later then :)
Oh I am sure your OH is a total expert when it comes to this sort of thing Terry. I haven't tried wild mushrooms but have eaten cooked nettles. A bit like spinach. I always remember picking and eating young Hawthorne leaves when we were kids, they were known as 'bread and butter', and digging up groundnuts. Memories, memories....now see what you've done! :)
Lovely amaryllis pics Lindy. Must find one of mine. Is that the view from your window? How wonderful!
ChloeB & Tiger's Osprey Data
My amaryllis last year
Lovely pics, Chloe -- our house backs onto the fields, we are very lucky. View is from our conservatory which we built specially so that we can sit & watch the wildlife & the farmers!
the fields being harvested this month:
Thank you. Yes you seem to have an ideal spot. I am surrounded by houses but do have an open view out the back. Not of fields though, allotments. Well kept ones with proper greenhouses dotted about, unlike some of the ramshackle shanty towns we often see :) At least I get a larger view of the sky that way and am not directly overlooked.

How brilliant! Is this your hedge we are looking over Lindy?
You are making me think about moving again, I have been here far too long :)
That's our thick hedge, with a footpath behind it, and then the fields.... To the left is a very old plum tree, which in spite of falling to pieces now, still gives out so many plums each year that we have to give some away.
Here is another pic:
Good Afternoon All. Thanks for starrting 'the week' Tiger. Lovely picture of Lily and Hope.
Just checked on Sir Bernard Lovell as I though he had died, and found he was 97 on the 31st August 2010.
Terry, Lovely picture of your cats. Hope you found some good edible mushrooms.
Chloe, I didn't realise you had five cats. Lovely amaryllis photographs. Ours stopped flowering earlier this year.
Linda, Lovely view from your back garden. We live in a very rural area but it can be a pain when you get stuck behind the tractors or combined harvester on the roads/ lanes as there is no hope of overtaking them.
We won another 'quiz night' last night but there was much stronger competition and we only won by 5 points. We are still unbeaten though ! Blue sky and sunshine today after an early morning mist, but didn't need a coat when we went to church this morning. Off out to meet friends and have lunch now.
Have just come in from the garden..... hope you have a nice lunch out, Brenda. Well Done! on the quiz - worthy champions, I'm sure!
We have been working in the garden in brilliant sunshine, in fact we put out two chairs and sat out in the sun for our elevenses. Have pruned a few shrubs, and depotted a large acer tree and put it into the ground, as it was pot bound- what a job! It took the two of us nearly an hour to try to get it out of the pot without breaking it. (the pot, that is - as its a nice one) Also the same with a large hydrangea which we have had by the front door for a few years, its going into the ground at a friends house now as it will be too big in our garden when it 'takes off' with freedom to grow. Now have the pleasant task of deciding what to put by the front door now, instead.
Hope some more of you are enjoying the bit of sunshine, too.
Morning all, and thanks to Tiger for starting off the new week.
lovely bright start here, almost a frost overnight but it didn't quite make it.
Terry, love the pictures of the cats. So cute:) Enjoy the boat trip, walk and mushroom hunt.
Tiger, thanks for the Hope picture. Lovely to see and she is so big now. I am a "lurker' there but follow fairly closely. That is the most active, passionate internet group I've ever seen. They can mobilize for voting etc so well.
Linda, love all the photo's and what a view you have:) Something to watch at times as well. Fantastic spot to live. Glad you had a good "garden"
Chloe, what a spectacular flower:)
Brenda, well done on being undefeated on the quiz:) Enjoy lunch.
Quiet day planned as OH is travelling again this week, back late on Friday then Sat SIL etc arrives!
