Hi all:

Diane: I swear I saw a "have a nice trip" post from you on the last thread!  Also your Hallo to Heather re her SiL back from Afghanistan.

  • afternoon everyone

Had a busy couple of days. many chorses.. and yesterday we took Lida for her first jumping lesson. She has been schooled a bit but this was the first time for OH and her. Went very well and all was good. Also went out in some fields and crossed some streams which is great. Another first for her and she will need to get used to them as she will come accross plenty!

Enjoyed all the posts and entry's. Love Jasper in his buggy:) and loved all the photo's. Thanks everyone

  • TERRY the couse is ITALL/PDA Introductory training in Adult Literacies Learning /Professional Developement Award, hopefully it will help with mu voluntary work with adults who have learning difficulties. Looking forward to the more practical side which starts end of Oct.

This am on Dillons walk we met a 71/2 month old Rottie with a tail!!!!! he was beautiful and in Pets at Home we bumped into a 12 week old Leonburger, already the size of some full grown dogs. What fun, a first for both, haven't seen a Rottie with a tail before or a puppy Leonberger.

  • Aftenoon all,

Just a reminder that The World Conker Championships take place tomorrow near Oundle:

  • Well, the sun came out about an hour ago, having been forecast, but was cloudy up till then.
Can't manage to comment on everything, all interesting, and some good links too.

It was clear last night and I tried to spot the comet, but did not manage to, it does not help that the neighbour had the outside light on all night. Also I could do with better binocs,  -one day...

Yes, TerryM, I always stop and look at the view at Dodd and fancy a rest on a bench,  I was surprised they had not provided some sooner. The staff member suggested chasing it up, but of course it could have already been in the pipeline. Apparently, they will be the same type as the lower one.
I have thought of volunteering, and would enjoy it, but I only go over if the weather is fine, and it could easily be raining on a duty day.   As we know there is no shelter up there on the hill !!  I'm a wimp!   :- (
If you do get to volunteer I will definitely try to get there - even if it is raining!  They do have volunteer daily or half day slots, and some do get to go up in a vehicle! very nice!

  • Afternoon all - saw that article re eggs and the person getting off - he should have had a custodial sentence in my opinion, but hey, that was the descision at the time even though it sucs!!!!!!

Lindybird - I think it was perhaps 50 years since it has been up and running but I could be corrected as it being longer than that.?????

Loved the pics AQ - does look barren though during the dry season

The ducks having a waddle about at LOTL and some new form of wildlife!!!!!!!!!Its been a thoroughly miserable day down here - low cloud all day and no sign of the sun.

  • Hi everyone.  Good to read all your posts, pix and links.  Nice to see you back here Alan.  Seem to remember some fun pictures you took last year at the conker championships.

I am very relieved that elder daughter has returned home safely from her overseas volunteering placement.  Younger daughter is currently enjoying school trip to Italy during the autumn school holidays (once known locally as the tattie - potato harvesting - holidays). Sad to read news of kidnapped volunteer who was killed during rescue attempt in Afghanistan.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

  • No sooner than the human form appeared then there was a great flurry of quacking and the ducks came back for tea.

  • evening everyone. Hope everyone's had a good day

great to read all the news and see the pictures. Thanks

Alan, so good to see you and thanks for the link. We had lots of fun with that last year:))

Had a nice bike ride with the OH this morning and enjoying the sun now
