Weekly Chat, Sunday September 19,2010

Hi all. Off to read last few posts of previous week.

  • Alan: Lots of support from folks on last week's thread.  We're thinking of you.

dibnlib: Great shots of the planes - must've been very thrilling!    Did the area around Lake Mallachie have that wonderful moist earthy smell?

OG: OH cooking you a roast dinner!?  I'm impressed.

Emma: How nice to have an OH that is good at DIY. I remember last year Alan referring to that as "Destroy It  Yourself," which is what happens in our house!  :-)

Tiger/patriciat: My daughter's dog, Oro, hates climbing into the back of my daughter's truck so she carries steps for him!  Tiger: Went out and said hallo to Jupiter just now.

AQ: I know you're probably flat out from the wedding - too much champagne? dancing? We're all looking forward to hearing about it.  (One down, one to go.)

  • Annette   And this was what you saw?  :) :) :)

Yes Jupiter is coming to its best in the next few days. A magnificent object visible throught the night. Down in southern California it must look lovely in the night sky.

  • Tiger:   There was something pretty bright in the sky and I assumed it was Jupiter.  But it sure would've helped to have had those letters over the dots!! :-)))  I'm off to bed now (very late for me); have a nice Sunday.

  • Annette. Yes they help. It is great to see the moons of Jupiter in binoculars. Sadly it was cloudy here last night so the trip to the telescope was in vai. We have a six inch refractor.

  • Morning, Everyone & a Happy Sunday to you.

Heard it raining here, most of the night, so everything is very soggy here today - & although it stopped when we got up, its now just started again!  Typical British weather I say.   It had stayed surprisingly dry for most of the Pope's visit but its now raining in Birmingham where he is due next.

We are tidying up odds and ends here at home & then going out for lunch somewhere (probably just a pub) to sort of celebrate our good week this week (some financial things sorted after a 3 year wait!). Couldn't celebrate on Friday last when the news came through, as Husband was off out with the Golf Society, having their Annual Dinner after the last game of the summer. Then may have to do some more work in the afternoon   :-((

I've been trying on clothes which didn't fit me for a while, now that I've lost a little weight - which is certainly an incentive to lose some more!!  Actually looking forward to finding some clothes in the wardrobe for that holiday in the sun shortly.  It was depressing on the last holiday to have to root out only the 'biggest' shorts etc.

Hope the sun is shining wherever you are!

As expected, it was cloudy here too last night and doesn't seem likely to be any better tonight judging by the weather right now.

  • Sunday all. Just a quick visit before going to work

Alan, I am so very sorry about the bad news, thinking of you and yours

AQ, hope the wedding went well, looking forward to read your report

  • Like your picture of Jupiter Tiger!  It was clear Friday night so I tried my binocs but no chance of seeing even a proper round planet never mind moons. However I once saw 2 moons, 'many' years ago as a brother of a friend had a small telescope. It would be nice to see them again, also the rings of Saturn.

  • Morning/afternoon all.

Annette, thanks for the new thread. That TV prog sounded very interesting. Diana, thanks for the info about it, I'll look out for it, these things normally come round again.

Tiger, thanks for that graphic about Jupiter. Sadly, I don't have access to a telescope. Sure it must have been a great sight. Is a 6 inch refractor big? Sorry to be so ignorant.

Dibnlib. Lovely photo's and that one of Dillon is fantastic. It's like a painting. You should def repost that here and enter it into a competition somewhere.

Linda, sory about the weather but congrats on getting that finiancial thing sorted after what sounds like a very long time. Good luck with the clothes:)

Auntie, Hope your work is good today.

AQ, all of us, even the men, are dying to hear how the wedding went!! lolol

    Happy Sunday everyone.
