Carrot Cake Ice Cream?? !!!!  Count me in!!!

That makes two of us Linda!!!

I'm having a break from clearing out a small bookcase/cupboard. It seems to be housing everything BUT books ... and most of it can go in the charity bag /recycling /tip. OH decided we needed a shoe cabinet in the bedroom in place of this bookcase ... great idea ... but wish I'd had a bit more notice ... I can think of better things to do on a lovely sunny afternoon!!!

  • Alicat be careful as chest pains are something that have to be investigated. I had similar symptoms and was told I had angina and a small tablet underneath the tongue when you feel the pain usually relieves the symptoms. Hope Casper's ear problems are now solved.

Alan I hope you and lady P have a nice meal and that her sister is improving. Did you watch the football this afternoon, Evertons comeback in added on time was amazing it shows that a two goal lead isn't a guaranteed win.

Read in the Scotsman this morning that a raccoon was found in someones garden in Alloa and nobody knows where it has come from as it isn't a scottish resident, it is now been looked after by the RSPCA

The weather here is sunny so dibnib should be having a pleasant time a Leuchars Air Show everyone else have a eventful weekend.

  • GeorgeG: I did watch the football and I did not expect the finish when Man U went 3 - 1 up. I was less impressed by Dundee losing 3-1 at Dunfernline.

  • Raccoons in Scotland - whatever next, georgeg!    There will be giraffes roaming around Edinburgh castle next!

I can now report that Miracles Do Happen ---- I dropped a full pint of milk on the kitchen floor at lunchtime, and although most of the milk gurgled out (which Dog then eagerly lapped up)  the bottle did not break on the tiled floor - probably because it hit my foot on the way down. Had to wash my favourite Best Sandals quickly, so that they don't smell like cheese tomorrow.

After the talk of the chalk animals on The Downs, here is a pic of the said Whipsnade Zoo Lion cut into the chalk -

    - also, for those who are interested in proper prehistoric figures, there is a bit on the web about the Uffington Horse who is perhaps the best known of these, you just have to Google 'Uffington Horse'  to read about him. It's a small world, TerryM - I left that area in 1957 so I think houses were even cheaper, then!!!

Very sad to see the various memorials to the thousands lost in the 9/11 Disaster today: especially heartbreaking to see their names being read out individually.  I was watching TV that dreadful day whilst doing the ironing at home, and as the story unfolded I could not contain my disbelief as to what was happening.

Thanks to AQ for more ' funnies' , do like the one about consultants!   Hope you enjoy your latest bus trip, and tell us all about it another day.

DjoanS has my sympathy, as to losing all her replies in one go, that's what happened to me!  I resolved to write shorter posts in future!!!!

My OH has gone to a 'Men Only' BBQ,  and has left me with the Remote Control and the Dog, so I will curl up happily soon with a big bowl of pasta and watch both the Strictly Come Dancing programme, and the Last Night of the Proms!!  Bliss!!

  • Morning all:

Alicat: Women are very naughty when it comes to chest pains/discomfort and tend to ignore them because they don't want to create a fuss.  Plaase don't put yourself at risk, okay?  Otherwise, all bloggers will arrive at your front door and whisk you off to the docs!!  :-)))

AQ: Hope your day out is fun and that the cafe is open (seem to remember you went on a trip some time back and the restaurant had closed!).  I liked "Nobody notices what I do....." More than just an office funny.

Diane: We had at least 30 crows in the neighborhood the other morning. Have no idea what upset them, but for about two hours they were scolding and calling and flying from one neighborhood tree to another - incredible racket! A bit too much like an Alfred Hitchcock movie for my liking...  You m ust feel good accomplishing so much around the house - good for you!  When you have stuff like that to do it's a bit like a stone around your neck. Just keep us updated when you have a chance.  :-)     Grrrrr! (That was for your former m-i-l!!)   Classes are local and are part of Santa Barbara Community College's Adult Education program.  If I don't get in this time, I'll make sure I sign up earlier next time - wasn't paying attention to deadlines!  Must check the alarm clock site.  Carrot cake ice cream? I could probably choke down a bowl!

Tiger:  No webcam for OZ ospreys then?  Good thing we don't have to wait for someone to shimmy up the post for fish counts, etc.!   The site Davesgarden seems to cover an awful lot! It often pops up when I'm Googling.  Did anyone see that funny Google page of the other day, with the bouncing balls? Very amusing and clever.

Alan: Enjoy dinner and happy anniversary.

OG: Hope driving experiment works out okay.

Heather: Hope family dinner goes well and that seating doesn't get too desperate.

Djoan: Sorry about your lost post!  Soooo frustrating.

Lindybird: Glad you didn't  smoosh a toe with that milk bottle. Thanks for pix of lion - lovely!! I was so impressed the first time I saw that.  Oh how funny - OH has left you with the remote? Miracle of miracles.  I can't bear to think of 9/11 - even photos of the intact Twin Towers in old movies gives me such a twinge.

Sorry if I missed anyone - did enjoy pix and posts. Off to see what needs doing in the garden. Have noticed that the sun isn't out yet!!!   Take care all.

  • Rather late today, but Hello everyone. Drizzle, cloud, light rain all day.

OG, My son and his wife invited themselves to join us and daughter on Thursday. I think the blue tit did have trichomonisis. The growth was very large and compares well with pictures I looked at. We haven't seen any other birds, who appear ill, so have thoroughly cleaned all feeders, baths, tables and have continued feeding but will keep a close eye on the birds. It is the first time we have seen it in our garden.

Heather, I am sure you are enjoying your busy weekend, but I have a feeling that you may be relieved when they have all gone home and you can relax.

AQ, Looking forward to hearing about your trip to the Gilbert and Clare Valleys, not forgetting the coffee and cake.

Alan, Happy Anniversary. I hope you both enjoy this evening.

Hope you all have a great evening.

  • Hi all thanks for your concerns im going to see if i can get in on monday to see the doc been out today at a local music festival thought that might have taken my mine off it and that the fresh air might done me good just got back and feels like i have been punched in the chest its a dull ache and still breathless and casper is doing ok at the moment thanks again speak a bit later

  • Just caught up again with all the news.

Talking about 9/11, our son visited New York the year before and saw the Twin Towers so it was quite poignant when that disaster happened the following year.

Houses - our first house in Nottingham was, if I remember rightly, £4,950 which was quite a lot of money in the late sixties. Was only there fo 5 years before moving to Scotland for 2 years, then back down to Essex for 7 years and finally to Brixworth, Northants for the last 28 years where we bought a house in l982 for £26,950 and finally paid it off 3 years ago. I feel for the young families today who have to take out rather large mortgages, thats if they can get one! Sorry, getting carried away again.

Finally a picture taken at the St Mary's Visitor Centre in America a few minutes ago For all who are having osprey withdrawl symptoms.

  • Alicat - do hope the symptoms subside now that Casper seems a lot better. It may have been stress, but as everybody has said on here, get it checked out as soon as you can.

As to the Racoon, could it not have escaped from some Wildlife Park up there? just a thought.

Just listening to the Last Night of the Proms on Radio 3 whilst I type this.  Actually, they're on their last number.  That's it for another year.
