Weekly Chat, Sunday September 5, 2010

Whoops. Got busy with one thing and another and forgot it was Saturday night.  Anyway, will catch up tomorrow. Take care all.

  • Lindy, we used to be taken to Dunstable Downs to watch gliders or walk up Ivinghoe Beacon, we thought it was such a long way up!

    Terry in Cumbria

  • Heather/OG, the enjoy the ice/water dispenser thingy but , according to the guy who comes and fixes it, they cause him the most problems! It's "easy" to make ice but hard to make a mechanism to get the cubes out easily . What do I know anyway lol

Alicat, glad jasper got a walk, and last you reported, was sleeping off the procedure.

Terry, Thanks! lol. I have plenty of jobs to keep me occupied

OG, well done on the tidy house

    Terry, that baking sounds lovely

    Paul, like your analogy!

  • Hi Gary its casper he is still sleeping he has let me clean him up from the blood when they drain it

  • Alicat, I'm so sorry, I think I've called Casper, Jasper more than once. I hope he and you can forgive me:)

Hope he and you have a good sleep

  • Hi, all. I'm tired out tonight. I'll catch up with everyone individually tomorrow. Have been moving furniture. This property is very damp, and wooden furniture tends to get mildewed inside. Needed to use a stinky cleaner on several pieces and had to lift, push, pull, and wrestle them outdoors to do it.

I did want to say that Pete's Pond may be returning. The webcam hasn't been operating because Real (as in Real Player) had discontinued its service. But National Geographic has been told that the service was stopped in error so they may be able to restart the cam soon. If you're interested, you can read here. http://www.facebook.com/WildCamCrittercam

Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday!

  • Hi gary nothing to forgive you for just thought i would let you know that you had got his name wrong i hope i haven't offended you if i have then im sorry that wasn't my intention, and yes thanks me and casper had a good sleep, casper still keeps falling asleep this morning ,he will walking aroung then next minute i look he's fast asleep

  • Morning, Everyone:   A bit damp and dull here, but may turn into sunshine later - I keep hoping!

Alicat:  Glad to hear that Casper has had his ear drained and that he is now sleeping it off - they often do that, its like humans.  Hope he's back to his normal self soon.

Thanks to Lynette & Joan for the great pics from the webcams - a Pine Marten!!

TerryM :   Yes, the pic was taken on Dunstable Downs - we lived just outside Dunstable on the Totternhoe road - which is where I went to school, at the Totternhoe Primary.  All seems about 100 years ago now - hang on , it probably is!!!    ;-)

Diane:   Don't you be trying to do too much- I don't like the sound of all that heaving of furniture around- you'll get a bad back.....

You can get mugs printed in Boots , think its about £6 each.  They do all kinds of stuff printed, on their website.

Heron:   Yes, thanks for the 'wave and smile' !!  -  I'm waving & smiling back!!  Loved your reference to the speed of the Starlings!!!

Gary: We were hoping to go to a Greek island for our hols, as two have been recommended by friends - but its getting so late now, its probably going to be impossible as the season ends in October when the weather takes a turn for the worst. We may end up back in the Canary Isles, which we love and where you can be sure of the weather in the wintery months. (except I wouldn't recommend going in January, when they have their unsettled weather).  We have some work stuff to do first before we can go, but of course want to be back a good month before baby Sweetpea is due to be born in mid November....

    Have a Good Day, All.

  • Morning all,

Thanks for all the chat and great pic of the pine marten. I just missed seeing it by a couple of minutes.

Alicat : Glad Casper is ok after his procedure. Hamish usually sleeps all day after a visit to the vets except he is always up for a walk.

Not a lot planned for today except visit to the hospital where SIL is still poorly. They are saying it was pneumonia now and she is ever so weak and hasnt been out of bed for a fortnight.

Weather is dull and raining lightly at the moment but not too cold.

  • Here is a pic of a raccoon dog taken at the fishing pool in Finland. I have seen it a couple of times but did not manage to capture a screenshot. This is taken fron the Finland Forum:

  • Thanks, all, for late and early posts.  Off to garden centre for compost and lunch and  to claim our free "pot full" of daffs ("pot not included"!).  Also need fish food from the Aquatics store there, and to look in the craft department for Christmas card ideas.  Then home via Tesco.  Will post replies later.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
