Weekly Chat, Sunday August 29, 2010

Hallo everyone. Just started this but now off to actually read recent posts!

  • Tiger it is indeed wonderful news.  Good to know that Lady has left such a legacy with all the chicks she and her mates have successfully reared and quite touching after all the drama at LOtL this year.

  • Goodness I'll never catch up!  There is lots to read on here these last few days!

The sun is out here, I put on a thin vest thing on today under my blouse, & a thick woollen jacket on top,  but had to peel that off when I got to Sainsburys!   I've had a nice day with the sunshine out & a successful shopping trip - bought some boring stuff but also came home with 2 new pairs of trousers, doubley marked down (in Ed. Woollen Mill!).   Had a long talk with Youngest Son on the phone, as he has the week off work to paint the nursery.  We are off out tonight to a grand Italian Restaurant with friends  (don't tell anyone, but its my birthday !  ssshhh!)

Glad you got kitted out in M & S margobird..  always a good place to start looking for warm things.

--- have to go out again, now.... bye

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY Linda!! Enjoy your meal ... grand Italian Restaurant sounds like my kind of place!!

margobird - glad you got your clothes for your holiday - always best to be prepared for any kind of weather.

I said in my earlier post that it was warm here today ... well its changed from warm to HOT ... very pleasant in the garden just now. I was just passing the computer and looked to see what was happening! I managed to spot an osprey on the pole at the Finland pond webcam  :-)

  • Good afternoon Linda and I wish you a very Happy Birthday.  Have a lovely meal tonight, my favourite food.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY LINDA.      I love Italian food. Our favourite restaurant is Italian and I have never been unhappy with the meal. Have a lovely time and do have an extra glass of wine or two.

Margo, great to hear you went on a shopping trip and you managed to find nearly all you were looking for and possibly even more. There are so many times I go looking for clothes and come back with nothing.

Djoan, I couldn't say it was hot here but is just pleasant when the sun appears, but soon cools down when it goes behind a cloud. We are gardening so the temperature is fine for that.

  • Happy Birthday from me too, Linda. Italian - yes! Have a great time!

  • Happy Birthday Linda.  Have a lovely meal and forget about the calories!

  • Happy birthday to Linda from me also. I hope you enjoy your Italian meal tonight.

Also thinking of George and his family today.

Lynette : Used to do a lot of walking around the Peebles area when I lived in Scotland. Peebles is one of my favourite towns with lovely walks along the river Tweed. Glentress is also a great place for walking and cycling. New Lanark is also quite interesting with a good walk to Corra Linn the waterfall on the SWT site.

Thanks to everyone else, too many to reply to individually.

Today I took Hamish to the vet and he has some more ear drops. Large ears are a problem in dogs.

Then I went to Rutland Water where I spent a nice couple of hours in the Shallow Water Hide watching the remaining 4 ospreys. There were also lots of other birds around, including 2 little egrets and a huge flock of goldfinches which came down for a drink en masse.

Tried to get a decent pic of this lapwing but he wasnt being cooperative:

Pic of 29(10) on the nest today:

  • Evening everyone.

My condolences to George G - hope that you can find comfort in all the happy times you had with BiL and it was/is certainly very kind of you to help SiL by taking her shopping in a different area which she might appreciate you doing occasionally for some time to come.  My thoughts have been with you too today.

Secondly, Happy Birthday LINDA. Hope you have a great time at the Italian restaurant and can enjoy several glasses of your favourite wine.

I have reached a very anxious stage in the preparations for Elder Daughter’s month away in West Africa.  She flies from Edinburgh airport tomorrow morning at 10am and has not yet finished her packing!  We are about to have dinner and I can’t wait to have a proper chat with everyone here tomorrow evening as soon as I know that she has reached her destination safely.  She and I have had a very busy day and have managed to stay perfectly calm so far.

Its great to see lots of people from the Daily Update on here and thanks Tiger for that news from LOTL about Lady & Eric’s juvenile.
