Hallo everyone. Just started this but now off to actually read recent posts!

  • I'll still think of Eldest, Middle and Titch!

    Terry in Cumbria

  • Sue C thanks for that info re names Aspen and Willow would have been lovely and I guess Titch would have been the name of a tree as well.  What a shame.

  • Paul that struck a cord in my memory re defrosting bird baths every day in what was for us here in the South a rather cold winter with snow as well.

Glad the starling amuse you they cartainly make me laugh.  We just had a really heavy shower of rain and as soon as ti stopped the starlings were all in the baths, they must think we have mucky rain.  Messy little devils but they amuse me no end.

Keep looking at the nest but I think the cam will soon be off and we can watch the bird feeders during the winter which is always entertaining, especially the red squirrels.

Got to say again Paul  please keep up your posts they do make me smile and laugh so much.  Had visions of you trying to take off with your arms flapping like made.

  • Good afternoon TerryM pleased you enjoyed your flute weekend.

I hope that we will not get too much heavy rain while we are away on holiday, otherwise I would only worry so its all the lap of the gods and I hope they will be smiling on me.

I thought the names that were possibly the ones for our chicks this year were lovely but as you say they will Eldest, Middle and Titch for evermore.  I wonder how they are getting on.  Good job they left when they did it looks pretty cold at LG and that wind is blowing.

  • Good afternoon HeatherB we go away on 4th September for two weeks and I am so looking foward to it.  For quite a few years now our main holiday has been somewhere in Italy but we thought we go back to Cornwall which holds many happy memories for us.  Just love North Cornwall as it is so wild and rugged and the scenery is wonderful.  OH is in need of a rest as he works so hard.  Has been to work this morning as they are so busy, mustn't complain though in the present financial climate you are lucky to have a job and apart from which he really enjoys it.

I had a date with an ironing pile this morning but have just finished for now but more to do which I will tackle again tomorrow.

Yes you are right about dentists being expensive.  A check up and scale and polish costs £60 for us and we go every six months.  The main thing is that we both have our own teeth so even though expensive it is worth it.

  • Afternoon Lindybird sorry you have such lousy weather today.  We have had a couple of heavy showers but it is so chilly today with the strong wind that is blowing.

I hope the shopping will go well tomorrow.  You know what it's like sometimes, you either find exactly what you wants or, no shop seems to have the clothes suitable for someone my age.  Dont want to look frumpy but nor do I want to look like mutton dressed as lamb as my Mum used to comment.  The main tthings to get are some cord trousers and jeans and warm jumpers and cardigans and most important warm socks for inside my wellies.  We will probably be going in caves at some point while we are away and wellies are definitely needed.  As you say though winter clothes should be out now, I just hope they have put them out and not trying to sell you the rubbish they have in their sales which nobody wanted in the first place.

  • Good afternoon DjoanS  and I am indeed looking forward to Cornwall.  We love it down there what ever the weather throws at us.  Nice not worry this year about overweight cases.  When we went to Italy last year we went by Ryanair.  Never again they have such a stupid luggage allowance, only 15 kilos.  Very hard to keep a case to that weight when you are away for 2 weeks in a hot place. OH had to pay over a £100 in excess baggage charges, and we swore we would never fly with them again.  By the time you added all the extras on to what was supposed to be a cheap flight it ended costing an horrendous amount.  the other thing that really annoyed me was the fact they were charging nearly £3 for a bottle of water.  We really don't like getting ripped off like that.
