I think the consensus was to continue the Daily Update until the weekend. So I've started the new day. Hope that's okay with everyone.
A new resident? The same tapping clonking hollow striking noises, off camera, late last night, still there eight hours later. Short bursts of whistling birdsong unidentified.

I logged on to the nest this morning, as usual, as it's a habit hard to break. So silent there, it seems almost as if the sound is off!
As our osprey family must now all be on their way south, you can't help wondering how far they have gone already, and whether the youngsters have managed to catch any fish yet to keep themselves going.
(Thanks to Diane for keeping this thread going for a little while)
Diane. Thank you for starting the new thread. I think we will all need a day or two to get used to the new situation.

Morning all - its good to have this thread for a little longer! Linda - I, too, logged onto the nest from habit ... first thing I always do!! I'm now watching the Finland pond, in the hope of seeing an osprey fishing, like Alan did yesterday!!
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

Hello there, Diane, JSB Lindy Tiger JoanA misty empty nest (good). Yes I think we agreed to keep DU goinguntil we heard ''officially'' that the nest would be empty for (about)210 days (or is it 211).So, good morning to you and I'll look out for any new resident JSB.So, I'll be watching the Finland pool too.I've learned a tip from Heron - I can get rid of ''gobbledegook'' when I type in Word by copying it in Notebook first and then copy and paste on the forum page.Anyway, I'm typing this directly IN to Notebook . Thank you Heron. OK here goes with the copy and past...
Whoa, No Gobbledygook Cirrus!
edit: Just heard some small birdies on the nest tweeting, and playing 'jump on the microphone' !!

I agree. The new situation is not only the empty nest, but during the past few months we logged in hoping to see them and now we log in hoping not to see them .
With so many Ospreys flying south they will eventually see one diving for a fish and then they will know where their food comes from. I read that at migration time there are huge numbers of Osprey that congregate at the English Channel to cross it. If not before, they will certainly see Ospreys fishing there.
I wish I could have heard Titch's squeal when he eats the first fish he caught . :)
I will just need to imagine it

Hi Lindy - now I know it reallly does work (never doubted it Heron :) ) I can type in Word where it's a bigger font and I find it easier and then do the notebook thing.
Still an empty misty nest. Oh, I 'm so glad they've gone. I do hope the Centre has 'extra' news - maybe seeing Odin one last time with kids in tow or something. ( a girl can dream LoL)
EDIT
Oh, ha ha ha and LoL - just great Lindy. I never had the muse this year. Very well done indeed. :)
