Daily Update (LG Nest) Thursday 26th August

Hi folks,

It was a very quiet day after early morning sightings.   No juves on the nest all day. Rejoicings at last. It looks as though they have set off on their migration and that Odin has probably followed them.

We will have to wait and see from the official blog at LG but hopefully they will confirm that the bairns are on their way at last and Odin is too.

Sad though it is , the end of the season is nigh.  God speed and safe journey to them all.,

  • Good morning all and so pleased to see an empty nest so I am pretty sure they have gone.  Safe journey to both and of course magnificent Odin.  I never thought I would be glad to see an empty nest but it is a relief not to see them calling for food.    aquilareen love the conversation  Thanks for the ;pics of the empty nest bathed in glorious colour.

I thank all on this blog too.  What a wonderful lot of friendly people with one common interest and that is our ospreys.  Will never get fed up with watching or reading about them.  So many humerous posts some of which were sadly needed the first few days of this week.  Long may we continue to be friends.

Off to catch up with last evening's posts now so have a good day all.

Nothing on the nest but mist.

    Funny conversation, AQ! LOL!

What a very pleasing sight (boo hoo hoo oooo, sob - relief  - ) Diane

AQ   I really enjoy your OSP conversations

Hello everyone - soon it's going to be over to Chat but let's keep DU going until we've heard Officailly - yes?

aquilareen        Just love the chick conversation. Great.

So for the first time in 97 days the nest is devoid of chicks. We got to get through a long winter (or hot summer in some people's case) before we have another brood.

OK Tiger -    I give in  :  Time for the  Count Down Clock

Sheila - the ending  to your  post sounds sort of like you now intend to go into Osp hibernation!  I do trust we'll find you over on Chat once the Official news comes in and DU is redundant   >)  oer er   :)

Good morning fans whenever you log on today - it's a sniffle of rejoicing and time to Normal 0 false false false

surreptitiously  take a tissue to the corners of ones eyes.  It's both  :)   and :(  and at the same time at that.

  • Good morning Cirrus part of me is relieved but the other part feels sad that we can no longer see them.  No pleasing some of us is there.  I just hope they will catch fish somewhere and have a safe journey.

  • My feelings entirely Margo

  • Cirrus.   I think Chloe is better at the countdown clocks than I am. But I think it is 212 days just now.

  • Hi Cirrus - empty nest hasn't hit me as badly as I feared! I'm just thankful they went at long last. Safe journey to the whole family.

This has been a lovely, friendly, witty, chatty place to be these last few months .... I've learned so much ... thanks to everyone who has made it that way  :-))   Lets hope we see everyone over on the Weekly pages when the Daily Update finally finishes for the season.

  • OK Chloe - I'm sure I bookmarked last years Count Down Clock - but I no longer have it in either Firefox or Internet Explorer. Tiger says '' U de man' where clocks are concerned so over to you   :)

EDIT  indeedie Joan - yes, I've learned a lot since I've been watching too. Everyone is good to know , aren't they?

  • Margo    I agree very much with your sentiment.

What has been great about this site (as in indeed most osprey sites I have ever known) is that people pick up the ball and run with it. There is always something new to discuss and the volume of information is hard to keep up with. So much of this would have been umimaginable some years ago.

Thanks to the RSPB and Loch Garten in particular for making it all possible.

Biggest thanks of course goes to Odin, EJ, C1, C2, C3  and all past ospreys including Rothes, Mallachie, Garten, Nethy, Deshar, Henry, Ollie, Olive  and yes I suppose even OVS and red 8T and no doubt other who have made the Loch Garten soap opera so fascinating over so many years.

  • Hi i take that no ospreys have been seen today or eveen heard nest seems eerlie silent
