Daily Update (LG Nest) Wednesday 25th August

Starting a new thread.

I wonder what today will bring? Will they decide to go fishing or head off south? I guess it's wait and see time....again.

  • Hi Alicat. Youngsters were both seen on the nest at 0910 then middle at 1010 with other youngster heard nearby at the same time.  ENS was reported at 1030 and no further sightings/sounds since then.  Caroline reported that Odin was around the nest yesterday but they are short staffed due to lurgy so would probably not be able to update us again today - see her comment on the main blog at 0908 this morning.

Cirrus - sorry to hear about your disappointment with mug - hope this is eventually resolved satisfactorily.  Dunderheids indeed as Heron said.

Thanks so much for the link to the mug company Alicat.  And no, after an early morning session of youngsters on the nest not a one to be seen for the rest of the day (thank goodness)   Very good news indeed :)  I personally think they finally took Odin 's advice, followed him to the Spey (or wherever)  and like good young Osps practiced their fishing .

your welcome Cirrus like i said earlier i haven't used them before,so will have to see what the mug turns out like when i pick it up on friday i will let you know what its like, will post a picture of it to she you,Tiger wants to see what the mug looks like as well, thanks for updating me about youngsters

  • thanks emma just had a look at carolines blog

  • Hello Emma and thanks for your post . It's just the disappointment after looking forward to it so much.

Well, off to bed now. Good night Alicat. Goodnight Emma and Good night to all you fans wherever you may be. As Scarlet somebody or other once said     ''Tomorrow is another day''   :)

  • You are welcome Alicat.  Hope your mug turns out well.

  • Daisy Ray    Yes the quiet of tonight is a direct contrast to the emotions of last night.  It seems that Deshar's record of staying for five days without any fish is safe.

Emma.  Great to hear that you got a copy of "The Scottish Ospreys". Where did you manage to buy a copy? You will not regret it as it is a fascinating read.

    thanks EMMA goodnight CIRRUS

  • Hi Cirrus   if you are still there...you were asking on the diary about the Bassenthwaite ospreys, well there is an update now and youngster #11 has set off on migration and is in Cheshire already!  #12 was still around the lake. I was going to say that those chicks are usually around into September, but not this year it seems. (Alan gave a link on the diary. -I can't seem to copy the url. )

  • Tiger - I was looking for a copy of Macbeth for my daughter which I managed to get for 65p from Abebooks when I remembered that you had recommended this osprey book.  When I punched in the ISBN number, this one copy of it came up for sale.  I know from yours and others posts that it is quite difficult to get hold of and I decided to buy it when I realised that this is the website which you advised had copies for sale earlier in the summer. Doesn't matter to me if its tatty.  I'm rather fond of old, well-thumbed books.

  • ChrisyB    Here is the link to the Bassenthwaite diary. Quite exciting. Wonder if C2 and C2 are also streaking the country?
