Hi folks,
Wasn't around for most of the day but found out I hadn't missed much. Just two hungry osps waiting all day for a meal which never came. Thanks to you all for your posts and pics yesterday.
It looks increasingly likely that EJ has begun her migration as she has not been seen since early on Saturday morning according to official sources.
Time is running out for us all for this year, I wonder how many more days before Odin leaves and then the juves will have to go if they are to survive and learn to fish on their way to fresh pastures new....sighhhhhhhhhh
Over to the early morning crew - keep us going. Night, Night.

Evening Lindybird you are right it is a sad sound. Logged in to see the two of them on the nest still hoping for a meal. This is the tough part of osprey watching but this is what happens and hopefully they will soon learn to fish.
Margobird
After several posts I meant to say good evening all and thanks for the pictures of two sad youngsters and for all the pics..
Wonder what tomorrow will bring and whether they will decide it is time to leave.

Evening Heather B when I logged in I saw the two of them still on the nest and waiting. The good times for the chicks have ended and now they have to fend for themselves but for me it is so hard to watch. This is nature though and probably happening in a lot of osprey nests at the moment.
Glad you had a good weekend even if tiring for you.

I am going to say goodbye until tomorrow. As I leave a very sad and wet looking nest, misty conditions and a terrible emptiness. I am hoping these two will set off soon and find fish on the way. Never thought I would say I want them to go but I don't think they are going to catch fish if they remain there. Have a good evening all.
Thanks for the stats JSB.
'Night margobird - I'm off too, things to do. Wonder if they will still be on the nest in the morning when we come on.
Odin is a magnificent provider until they can fly and then he thinks his job is done. He lets EJ do most of the fishing and then just quits. The male is supposed to feed the chicks until the last one leaves and then he is to leaves.
For me this takes a lot of the shine off the crown we have given Odin
When the chicks leave on their own they are ready. Forcing them may not insure their survival. Rothes left on her own and is fine.
I am sure Eldest will be fine.
Mallachie was forced out and it is thought she perished. Nethy and Deshar both were forced out and both perished. This doesn't bode well for these 2 chicks
Hopefully their survival instinct kick in very very soon.
Xalbai said he saw Mallachie dive and dive but he never saw her come up with a fish.
We all hope the Lady comes back , but if she doesn't , I would love to see EJ mate with the Laird so she and her chicks have a mate who is there to the end .

I couldn't agree more Barbara Jean. He starts off well then tails off at the end.
If he's not careful our EJ will file for divorce!
