Hi all. Haven't had a chance to check out most recent postings from last week but will do so tomorrow.
Thanks, Annette - diidn't want to leave you alone on here, so decided to make a quick appearance then fly off for breakfast. My catching up will also come later!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Morning, All. Gosh, is it another week already?
Here we go, then. Lots of posts yesterday afternoon and evening.
Margo – sorry you had to miss Oklahoma – how good of you to suggest OH should go without you.
Alan – that alarm clock sounds very quirky – are you entering your “second childhood”?
George – please ID the wee harbour in your lovely photo – I guess it is southern Fife, maybe Elie or further east towards Pittenweem?
Lindy – sorry you had an “off” day Saturday – I hope you have a good Sunday – and a better week! Lovely Froggy, very clear for a scanned photo, must have been a very good original.
Diane – what a beautiful Butterfly – and another great photo!
Heron – how good that your Woodpecker revisited!
And now a very slow start to the chat! Had brecky, now time to get ready for church. Took some garden photos again yesterday – current stars in the cool corner are the Japanese Anemones, although the Astilbe heads add some form and structure to the centre of the bed:
And the Godetias are still colourful, although these deeper pink ones are a bit brash for the front of cool corner:
Good Morning ALL. Heavy rain here since we got up this morning and when we went to church, the car wipers couldn't cope.
Just a few comments to those I didn't reply to yesterday'
Linda, I hope you have recovered today and Margo, I do hope your cough has calmed down today.
George, I, too, would love to know the location of your lovely photograph.
Diane, superb photograph of your butterfly.
Heron, good to hear your woodpecker is still around. We have regular woodpecker visitors but haven't seen the young ones for a couple of weeks.
OG, I really do like your cool corner flowers. I think I would like to copy that idea in our garden.
We are going out for lunch. Great, no cooking to do.
Morning all glad you liked the photo of the harbour, it was taken during the spring at Dysart harbour just before they started to put the boats in the water for the summer. They take the boats out in the autumn to clean and paint them. There is a regeneration going on in Dysart and as it is part of the coastal walk from the Forth Bridge to the Tay Bridge it does get quite a lot of visitors. There is also a cafe in the old Harbourmaster House which also has a short history of the harbour. The history of Dysart goes back to the time of Saint Serf who spent some time in a cave which is overlooked by the tower you see and just a short distance along the coast there are caves with pictish drawings in them. I hope this answers some of your questions.
Getting ready now to go and visit BiL.

Good afternoon all just caught up with last week's chat and thanks for all the pics and news.
Lindybird hope you are feeling a lot better today. What a shame after the nice evening at Sis In Law's party.
george g Thanks tor tellling us where the photo was taken. Sounds very interestng. Hope your visit to BiL is not too disressing, it must be a difficult time for SiL and yourself..
I am feeling a little better today only woke up a couple of times coughing last night so that was definitely am improvement. ChloeB I did as you suggested with the steam so that may well have helped.
OH went and did a bit of shopping this morning and came back with some beautiful flowers to cheer me up bless him. He is doing the cooking at the moment as I am not really enjoying my food at the moment as when I do try and eat I start coughing and end up by not wanting to eat. Just having sandwiches mostly so I won't starve. He really is a treasure.
Weather here has been pretty miserable since Friday evening. I know I said we wanted some rain but it hasn't stopped and apparently we are in for some very heavy rain again tonight.
Have a good day all and take care.
Margobird
Brenda – I see on BBC news pages that you in the south have flood warning for overnight tonight – 3 inches of rain in places! We had soup for lunch, then off to this season’s final cream tea in a minute.
George – thanks for telling us about Dysart – really must have another visit to Fife. I love those fishing villages, and enjoyed reading about the coast in a recent “Scots Magazine”.
Margo – pleased to read that you are a little better and enjoying your flowers and OH’s meals.
Afternoon all,
Its been a beautiful day so far. So good in fact we went to Fineshade Woods and had a picnic. Lots of people about today with loads of cyclists and walkers so we left when it started to get too busy.
GeorgeG : Thanks for letting us know which fishing village it was. Despite having lived in Dundee for many years I dont know the Fife coast all that well.
Linda : Sorry you were feeling unwell yesterday and I hope you are feeling better now.
OG : Lovely garden pics, especially the godetias. We dont have any this year.
Diane : We dont have any of those butterflies here, in fact very few around this year except lots of white ones.
Everyone else thanks for the chat. Off to play with my Rocket alarm clock now..
Hi There: I'm feeling much much better now - many thanks to those of you who enquired. I was a little cautious about it this morning, as you can never be sure how you will feel as the day goes on, but I'm def. better thank goodness - there is so much needing to be done. Nevertheless, just had an hour in the conservatory with some old colour supplements to catch up on. A gorgeous Peacock Butterfly tried to get through the glass to join me but settled on the windowsill instead. Two days ago I saw a Sparrowhawk on a post just outside our back garden: he was looking for his supper & stayed for ages, but I dare not get the camera out in case he saw me & went off. Eventually he slid off as silently as he arrived - expect he saw some poor little bird in the distance.
Glad to hear that you are recovering, margobird - its rotten having a cough which can keep you awake.
Enjoyed OG's lovely flower pics. Your garden must be a riot of colour most of the year, OG!
Hope Brenda enjoyed her lunch out - as you say, no clearing up is part of the treat for us ladies.
Diane: Thanks so much for the beautiful butterfly pic - I have copied it , hope you don't mind.
georgeg: Thanks for telling us a little about Dysart - very interesting. My thoughts go with you for your poor b. in law and his family.
Bought some Babygro's for 'Sweetpea' in the Sales in Boots on Friday - they were selling off the baby stuff at half price so couldn't resist. That is going to be one well dressed little mite when it arrives!
Hope Everyone has had a good Sunday so far!
We just arrived home from having a lovely lunch, when our son and his wife arrived on a surprise visit and planned to stay the night. They had checked our plans by a casual call earlier in the day. They had been with us for about an hour when our Dil received a phonecall to tell her that her Grandfather had just died. We managed to get her on a flight to Glasgow, ( but not our son) where she will be met and then driven to her parent's home. OH has insisted on driving them to the airport and I am preparing an evening meal for OH and son. Poor girl, is having to cope with her Father being seriously ill and now this, but she needs to be with her Mother ( whose father it is, who has died) and help where she can.
George, Thank you for explaining about your photograph.
Linda, Don't forget that babies grow very quickly. I am sure I would be doing the same as you though.
OG, Yes, I saw the weather forecast. It has been raining most of today and I am not looking forward to tonight's very heavy rain and gales. (There are so many trees, in full leave, around the house.)
