Good Morning all,
Yesterday had some interesting goings on. Delivery in the morning and a delivery in the early evening which resulted in an eventual takeover by the chick who lost out when EJ delivered round about 5pm This chick then kept eyeing his sibling up and eventually grasped the fish that was left and flew off with it., leaving the first winner of the fish contest to wonder what had happened. It was all very amusing and also a privelege to watch what can go on between siblings in the wild.
The evening ended with the usual ENS
Over to the early morning shift and keep those anecdotes and scintillating commentaries coming for us over here as we love to catch up in the mornings, of what has been going on early morning. BTW what absolutely gorgeous photos of the early morning at LG yesterday. Congrats to those that posted, really atmospheric.
Over to you!!!

Cirrus. I'm fairly certain "Greater Glasgow" is an unofficial term used for places that have a G postcode but don't fall within the Glasgow City boundry. Technically speaking I'm in North Lanarkshire. From my birth until they changed to a single tier local authority system in Scotland around 1994, I was in Strathkelvin, within Strathclyde. If I'd been around before the two tier system came about, I'd have been in the County of Lanark (Lanarkshire, as it was more commonly known). To be honest I like the Irish system where County Dublin has always been County Dublin, and County Antrim has always been County Antrim etc. Back on topic. Empty nest but bathed in beautiful sunshine.Paul.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
Good morning alnd thanks for the early morning chat and news about a fish, always pleased to read the word "fish". Many thanks to Sandra, DjoanS and Heron 77 for the pics, some more lovely ones showing those glorious colours after it had stopped raining. Well I wonder how much longer we have EJ, Odin and the two remaining youngsters for, each day is a bonus at the moment.
Thanks Alan for more osprey sightings and more seen over Poole Harbour just down the road but I still haven't really felt like going down to watch, especially today as it a really miserable morning. That horrible fine drizzle and so dark. Have only just turned my lights off.
Off topic but I just went out in the garden and the sparrows were really kicking up a fuss with their warning sounds and much to my amazement a female sparrowhawk flew right by me. The sparrows were all safe as the bury themselves in the bushes at the end of my garden but I have never been so close to a sparrowhawk before, magnificent bird.
Off to catch up with overnight posts now and hopefully will see an osprey soon.
Margobird
Well, nothing seems to be happening, will be back later have to catch up with housework.
Heron 77 meant to say in my post thanks for your oh so witty comments.
Daisy Ray LOL - No OH was in Bournemouth but didn't see the Red Arrows as there was very low cloud cover. Still going on today and tomorrow but the weather is awful this morning so don't think there will be a lot of action.
Good morning Lynette thanks for the pics you took yesterday of the fish tussle.
Good morning margobird. Wow! That must've been phenomenal to see a female Sparrowhawk so close. They're gorgeous birds and although I've seen a male in my garden I've never had a female land in the garden. Although I did watch a female feast on a (what looked to be a pigeon) a couple of months ago in a neighbouring garden. When she'd finished her meal she flew over my garden and I fould my self quietly shouting: "Land! Land! Land!" etc. Alas she didn't. Well that's the sort of thing that doing the BTO Garden Bird Watch does to you. LOL.Paul.

We had a LOT of rain last night - much of it came through the conservatory roof [can't wait to have a new one].
What a disappointment not to see the Red Arrows. Many years ago we sat on Studland Beach watching them practise for the Air Show - terrific.
Hi Daisy Ray. Sorry to hear your conservatory got flooded. That rain can be a real pain at times.
Still empty nest but I can hear an insect buzzing about. Now an Osprey has joined in from off-stage. And now the Osprey has gone quiet. Either that or too far away to be picked up.
Heron 77 I always feel extremely honoured that this particular female visits quite regularly. There is a family living about a mile down the road from me. I watched last year when the female came with a youngster and was trying to teach it what to do. I know they catch other birds for food but that is nature and I accept this. When she does catch a bird, usually a starling, she sits on my bird bath and proceeds to pluck it and leave all the feather in the bath. That is all that is left, the rest is all eaten. back to LG now and I just heard an osprey nearby.
Daisy Ray sorry to hear about the rain in your conservatory. We haven't had rain in as yet but get a lot of condensation so there is probably something wrong up on the roof of it. Did you hear the osprey call just now.
