Hi folk,
It was a mixed day yesterday. Fish delivery I think in the morning but not sure whether there were more during the day. Two juves kept coming and going and Odin visited at least twice during the course of the day - once , eyeing up the fish the youngster had. Did his usual housekeeping and kept everyone amused with his antics.
We know that EJ and Odin were around yesterday, and the two juves are believed to be Titch and Middle but no doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
Over to the night/early morning shift and keep us amused with your lovely commentaries and occasional pics.

Morning all, logged on to an empty nest but have been reading all the posts up to now - stunning pics fromTiger and Dianne in the early morning sun. Thanks to the others who have posted pics and for the amusing commentary re the two. The debate goes on - who exactly was on the nest this morning???
Maybe all three chicks are around but one doesn't show himself/herself quite as frequently, who knows. This is the life of ospreys and we still don't know everything that goes on. That's the mystery - it keeps us guessing.

Morning all and thanks for the great reporting and pics this morning. So the great debate continues. Has eldest gone on migration or not? Personally I think so. There does seem to be a similarity between last year when the eldest went first. Maybe it is a genetic thing from Odins side. Rothes left even earlier than eldest and is still fine so no worries about eldest being gone. We probably only have a few days left now of osprey watching and they are going to be missed.
Indeed, Alan. Do you know when Eldest was last seen please? Only an untidy nest in sunshine to be observed at the moment.

Back again - I really ought to be doing other things, there is such a lot to do - visitors at the weekend! But I am drawn in... I have another thought about the difficulty over id, particularly this morning. I am not sure whether it rained o/night, but the two chicks on the nest, as the sun rose thru the mist, looked decidedly damp and fluffed up, as if against the cold. That may well have disguised their actual feather pattern, making it even more problematic than usual?

Could be Sheila , indeed. But have to say, I do not consider either of them to be Edlest if that is the nub of the query. It's most definitely Middle and Youngest.
Good morning all and what beautiful captures of the GEM's in the early morning sun, just stunning would be wonderful to have them framed. The colours were just amazing, some of the best pics ever I think so my thanks to Diane and Tiger for posting them for all to see. Glad to see EJ came with her usual whale and both chicks have had breakfast. It seems one has already left before EJ and Odin again. The LG ospreys certainly do things their own way but give us so much entertainment in doing so. Wish him/her safe journey and I see on the main blog they think if might have already caught fish so at least we know it won't go hungry.
Weather at LG the complete opposite to what it is here in Poole. A brief period of sunshine and then torrential rain which I think is going to be the order of the day. Thanks also for the chat which was interesting and the nest does look a mess now and it looks as though Odin has been busy again with sticks etc. Off to catch up now with other blogs and the rest of yesterday's DC.

Oh no Cirrus, I'm not at all questioning the reasons for the id. I would not dare to presume, as I have absolutely no idea. I was merely adding another connundrum to the equation! Two chicks calling off camera, close by.
Can hear s noisy GEM who must be just off camera. Surely it can't be hungry again after the good meal this morning.
