August is the month when we've seen the Loch Arkaig ospreys depart on their journey south. We've enjoyed watching them this year - the wonderful parenting skills of Aila and Louis, and the antics of their 3 chicks, Captain, Vera and Doddie.
Mary GK did an absolutely wonderful video summarising the 2020 season. Thank you so much Mary! And here is Geemeff's great compilation, thank you!
2020 last dates:
Doddie JJ6 was last seen at the nest on Saturday 15th August 2020
Aila was last seen on Saturday 22nd August 2020
Captain JJ7 was last seen on Sunday 23rd August 2020
Vera JJ8 was last seen on Saturday 5 September.
An unidentified osprey was seen off camera on Sunday 6 September eating a fish. This could well have been Louis, having arrived and found no Vera around to feed.
Doddie JJ6 was videod and photographed fishing for over a fortnight at Avalon Marshes in Somerset

15.51, Aila, JJ6 & JJ7 are on the nest when Louis brings in a fish. At 15.53, Louis is still on the nest with the fish, the other three are fish calling as if he wasn't there! Ian
EDIT - 15.58, Louis decides to start on the fish. 16.00, Aila takes the fish, any bets that she will feed one or both the chicks like yesterday with JJ6?
EDIT1 - Aila is indeed holding mouthfulls of fish to JJ6 but he is too busy shouting to take them! Eventually (just to please his Mum) he takes some from her.

Mummy's oldest baby being fed, aw shucks (not). Ian
EDIT - 16.19 & 16.21, JJ7 and JJ6 leave respectively. I think Aila has finished the fish, she is on the nest still at 16.36. I'm going offline for the rest of the day.

What a splendid word, Korky, another new one for my collection! A quick google gave me:
Definition of clamjamfry. 1 chiefly Scottish : rabble, mob. 2 chiefly Scottish : odds and ends, rubbish.
I'm glad to see Vera on the nest, yelling. I hope her wish is fulfilled.
I see on play back she was eating at 19.30

Seven fish were delivered to the nest today, and the debate still rages about the species of fishes 4-7 inclusive. Beyond debate is the identity of this little late night visitor:
07.46 Wednesday. I have just looked at the camera to see JJ8 eating a fish, good news in addition to Korky's post on Tuesday evening. 07.54, she has left some of the fish, so either not that hungry (feeding off camera?) or something is not quite right with her. Ian
08.17, JJ8 (I think judging by the pose, EDIT - yes as JJ6 arrives noisily at 08.30) & JJ7 come to the nest, JJ7 takes the fish piece that was lying. 08.27, JJ7 finishes the fish.
JJ8 taking the fish from Louis at 07.25.
