Continued from Manton Bay – May 2020
The history of the Manton Bay nest, breeding stats and links to previous threads can be found here
The season so far: The resident pair both returned on 16 March - Blue 33(11) at 07:12 and Maya at 13:16. For the second consecutive year, Maya laid four eggs – the first on 29 March followed by another three first seen on 4, 6 and 9 April. Maya and Blue 33(11) faithfully incubated the four eggs and on day 38, the first chick hatched 6 May c13:20 followed by Chick #2 on 8 May c06:10, Chick #3 on 10 May c14:45, and Chick #4 on 13 May c20:45.
All four chicks have thrived under the protection of Maya and Blue 33(11) who has once again proved to be a fantastic provider for his family.
In two/three week’s time, the chicks will be ringed and we’ll learn a bit more about them.

Morning Mary Fledging is always an exciting time having watched them develop in the nest and then to gain their independence but like you I also think it is a very worrying time and yes up to they migrate and beyond! No doubts - this is a concern. I am wondering now where he is and hopefully that he made it to a branch and not grounded.
Few moments ago, one of the adults flew off from the cam perch.
06:43 081 is fiddling with a stick
06:46 083 now up and flapping his wings
06:48 the three all settle down again

081 is now up, flapping and rising way high up
06:50 Maya returns with a clump of nesting material
06:51 and 083 really flapping his wings
080 HAS SAFELY RETURNED TO THE NEST
080 lands like a pro back left of the nest!
and a close up of him :-)
All four back together - phew :-))
Now for some breakfish !
082 and 081 wing flapping - hard to keep up lol and then:
06:57 080 rises high - back up to the cam post I think ?
back to three on the nest

I feel a little for 083 who is keeping his head down while his brothers flap those wings of theirs.
Unfortunately it is raining now
FISH @ 07:07
Maya follows 33 and grabs the fish
07:09 082 up first to be fed
07:15 081 joins 082 and being fed
07:15 083 making its way forward
07:16 083 gets in line then 082 turns away and 083 being fed with 081
07:18 081 turns away and 083 gets the last of the fish!
083 didn't get very much and 080 still to be fed.
Hopefully 33 brings another, and bigger fish, soon
