Continued from Manton Bay – May 2020
The history of the Manton Bay nest, breeding stats and links to previous threads can be found here
The season so far: The resident pair both returned on 16 March - Blue 33(11) at 07:12 and Maya at 13:16. For the second consecutive year, Maya laid four eggs – the first on 29 March followed by another three first seen on 4, 6 and 9 April. Maya and Blue 33(11) faithfully incubated the four eggs and on day 38, the first chick hatched 6 May c13:20 followed by Chick #2 on 8 May c06:10, Chick #3 on 10 May c14:45, and Chick #4 on 13 May c20:45.
All four chicks have thrived under the protection of Maya and Blue 33(11) who has once again proved to be a fantastic provider for his family.
In two/three week’s time, the chicks will be ringed and we’ll learn a bit more about them.

Birdies LG DU update.
FISH @ 18:54
33 mantling - intruder around as Maya was mantling before 33 arrived
18:57 Maya grabs the fish. 080 is quickly up and Maya starts to feed him
18:57 33 flies off. Other chicks lie, patiently waiting their turn
19:01 082 now joins 080 and 083 gets up showing an interest but waits
19:09 082 turns followed by 080. 083 moves up to Maya to be fed but Maya has stopped feeding.

19:13 Maya has flown. 083 and 081 still to be fed.
During the feed at
19:08 083 came forward towards the camera
19:08 082 then stopped feeding and turning and both had a good wing flap
19:09 082 gave a little jump lifting off the nest
19:19 Maya returns and does a little tidying
Maya has stood, looking very relaxed, since returning 19:19.
The fish remains at the back of the nest but she has made no attempt to resume feeding. Perhaps she will later as 081 and 083 have still to be fed
Must go now - BFN
