Hi, all. Annette may be busy with her friends this evening, so I'm starting the new thread for the week. Be sure to read the last few posts on the old one. AQ is off on a history bus tour, and she promises a report and maybe photos. Yay. TerryM, enjoy your holiday and I hope the weather is nice!
My back is well and truly out, so I'm going to bed. Sorry that I can't make any specific replies. I'll try to catch up soon. Everyone have a wonderful week!
Thanks for the link to the osprey pics, Alan. They are a big bird to get hold of. Regarding the Portmerion ones, I was surprised as had never heard anything about them either, but maybe it one of those Osprey Secrets which are not generally advertised so as to give the birds some peace. Next time I go there I shall be scanning the skies.
OG: Congratulations on your 42nd Anniversary! - the first 40 years are the worst, so should be all plain sailing now! ; - ) Your flower pic is a riot of colour, so pretty.
We have been to visit Sis in Law, and came away with a hardly used child's high chair from her stash of things in the garage - taking it down to our Son's next Saturday when we are taking them both out to lunch. (Mum to be is feeling well and blooming).
margobird: Nice to hear that you had such a fun and profitable day at the Races! Also pleased to hear that you did nothing embarrassing, in spite of your excitement! (personally, I would have danced around the Paddock & not cared who saw me!!!!)
EDIT: Seem to have overlapped with both Annette & OG - Glad you are enjoying your 'me' time Annette!
Annette - missed you by one minute! Sorry your second friend's car trouble messed up her flight down from Seattle - but something else to look forward to it when she can reschedule. Plant nurseries and cake - life can't get much better than that! (This chat is bad for me, I'm developing "a sweet tooth" after all these years of being a savouries person!)
Here's a picture of the "Heavy Brigade" on one of their visits yesterday - at one time there were six of them!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Hi, Lindy, missed you this time! Pleased you collected the high chair for Sweet Pea - all that baby stuff is so expensive these days, and they use it for such a short time.
Just popped in to check up on you all. Lindybird, if the first 40 years are the worst then I haven't been through it yet, only up to 30 odd. Congrats OG and Lynette (later).
We've packed, but there are always lots of last minute jobs to do re cats/hens/garden. We are taking bicycles but can't find the trail maps we bought last year. Did I say we were meeting a friend finishing her Munros? If I get up it I shall be on 84, but I haven't managed to get up anything major for a couple of years, since I did all the Wainwrights over two years.
Ooh, it's like Christmas, I might be up early tomorrow! See you all next week.
Terry in Cumbria
Forgot to say, I am now reading The Girl Who Played With Fire, Stieg Larsson's 2nd in the Millenium trilogy. In case I finish it I am also taking A Life of Ospreys. Best wishes to Lynette's OH and love the pink flowers OG.
Have a great time, TerryM. (you may have logged off by now as I'm sure there's lots to do) Well done, doing all those Wainwrights - we have been on a couple of the 'easy' ones but each year my knees get worse at the 'coming down the mountain' part of the trip. Agog at your friend doing all those Munros - that's quite an achievement!
Friend of mine is totally hooked on all the Larsson books & has read all the ones published - now waiting to see if his girlfriend (? was it), finishes the last one. (for those who don't know, the poor man is no more)
georgeg: what a good idea to give your b. in law the binocs to give him something to do. It's so boring being confined to bed.
Off to watch 'Countryfile'
Good evening all just popping in quickly again to catch up. original goldfinch love your picture of the "Heavy Brigade". I think I mentioned we get a lot in our garden but waht nervous individuals they are. It only takes a few sparrows to fly in and they take off in a panic..
Margobird
Hi everyone.A very happy Sunday and a very happy New Month to all. Thanks to everyone for all the posts and pics. It's been a bit of a battle between rain and sunshine in my neck of the woods today. I'm afraid to say the rain has been winning with ease. Diane: Thanks for starting the new Weekly Chat. Hope your back gets better soon. That's a brilliant Flower Show pic Linda. Many congratulations on your 42nd Anniversary OG. Good luck to your grandson on his legnth of Scotland cycle ride. Great pic of the flowers. Love the Woodpigeon pic.Glad you had a great time at Goodwood, margobird. Glad you and your OH won some money. I don't bet on the horses my self. I'm the sort of man would back a horse at 10 to 1 and it would come in at half past five. LOLLynette: All the best to you and your OH for your 42nd Anniversary on the 24th. Sorry to hear about your OH's cricketing injury. Just reading about it made me wince. That's great pic of Portmerion Alan. Absolutely stunning scenary.Have a great holiday TerryM :-)
On the way back home from the trip to see the Ospreys at LotL and LG, we stopped in Crief for a quick break. I had to picture this Swallow. He was perched on a phone wire and singing his heart out.
Paul.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
Thanks Lindy, just went to get the dinner ready for the oven and watch the bits of the grand prix I missed this pm, now back to look up stalking in Scotland (we don't usually go in the stalking season). Always late dinner on Sunday as OH telephones his mum. I enjoyed the Sondheim prom last night, but I listened on Radio 3 rather than watch BBC2.
The cats were a little wary of their cleaned out shed today, they know we are going, they become suspicious when we start putting biscuits into a hopper to last them a week! Managed to cut the grass despite the showers, it would have been awfully long if I left it another week. It was a field so it's not like your average house lawn and it takes an hour if I don't box it off.
Byeee!
TerryM : I hope you have a great holiday.
GeorgeG : I am also looking forward to the football season as I have had withdrawal symptoms since the World Cup finished. Another promotion battle for Dundee and lets hope they dont throw away another 11 point lead this season.
