Hi everybody, another month has started and the countdown will begin from now as to when our birds will start their migrations.
It was a fairly quiet day, yesterday. The three were fed in the morning and then again mid / late evening.
Thanks to all those who posted wonderful pics and kept us all uptodate.
EJ is on the nest at present, having taken the part eaten whale of a fish away and then returned with it to eat it late yesterday evening. Over to the night shift, see you all in the morning.

It sounds like Noisy Boots is screaming for his breakfast.
EJ obviously finished off the whale and even gave some to Middle as reported earlier so nest is empty now of fish until the next delivery.
Hello Lynette (wanted to acknowledge your presence :) ) I'm out in just under an hour so I'll wish you a very good day - probably it'll b quiet now like yesterday (unless any intruders arrive at least) . I'll check in with you and whoever else is online later this afternoon.
Tiger - back to yesterday's question. Yes, it now seems likely that EJ is bringing in the majority of the fish. Odin - early am and EJ the rest of the day - mostly late high tea time and supper. Yesterday bringing in two whales VERY close together.

Yes Cirrus I find this very odd. Nowadays EJ seems to bring in most of the fish late in the season. It was not like this at all with Henry. With Henry EJ hardly caught any fish (in spite of what was said in a blog somewhere she did catch some). Also she seemed much more ready to leave Henry in charge and head off to Africa.
Henry was fantastic at looking after the chicks.

Morning all ... thanks for earlier reports. It seems like they all had a good breakfast ... so there probably won't be much activity on the nest until much later, although I can hear someone being noisy in the background! I won't be around much until later, so enjoy your day folks!

Wish I'd known Henry, Tiger. Well, even birds have distinct personalities so this must affect their behaviour. This brood do seem to be ''particularly'' aggressive when the fish come in, maybe Odin feels somewhat overwhelmed at his ''welcome' when he brings in a fish. ( Rather like I do in crowds !! )
Later everyone .... do have a good morning.
Morning all and thanks for earlier reports. ENS at the moment but I can hear chirping in the background. 1st August today so I guess it is countdown to migration time. I wonder if any of the youngsters will leave before the parents this year. I still think Rothes was amazing leaving so early last year. If she had not been sat tagged we would have thought something sinister had happened to her.
Morning, All & many thanks to the Night Team for reports. Tiger is such a fund of knowledge to those of us who have only been watching for a year or two....
Don't remember EJ bringing in this many fish even last year, or is it just my perception at the time? This bunch of fledglings are certainly a demanding lot - maybe she thinks they will get up to some mishief like a lot of bored teenagers if she doesn't keep them busy eating!!!
Just going to hit 'Post' when a noisy GEM landed on the nest!!!

While EJ is still occasionally feeding #2 or #3, I don't think she'll be leaving for a week or two, so it is possible that #1 will leave before her - but I don't think it will go while she is still bringing in so much fish. Also, they still appear to be staying quite near to the nest which suggests they haven't made any longer flights around Speyside to practice endurance flying. so I am predicting that EJ will cut down on fish for the chicks during this week and maybe leave around 11th August. #1 to leave 13th, #2 and #3 around 18th, depending whether Odin stays around to bring in fish.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
All gone quiet. ENS Back later.
