*It is with much regret to report that Lassie (LF15) failed to return*
‘An Empty Nest’ blog >>> scottishwildlifetrust.org.uk/2020/04/an-empty-nest/
For reasons known only to them, Laddie (LM12) and this season's new female, NC0, have made the decision not to use the webcam nest. We can only hope that they are safe and successfully incubating eggs somewhere in the immediate area of the Loch and that, as this month progresses, they will grace us occasionally with their presence on camera. In the meantime, we will continue to enjoy, and report on, the sights and sounds of this beautiful location.

No Ospreys on view but I did hear 3 short 'chips' at 12:40 (I made a note of the time). A large bird flew across the Loch but I was unable to ID it, a goose also 'sounded' off a little while after that so it could have been that

I noticed a stick on the nest. Not brought in by Laddie, it got blown onto the nest, from the front outer edge, during the strong wind at just after 11:30

Just after 7:00, dear Laddie flew onto the nest and was there for a couple of minutes

Gosh a rare visit by him Sandra. I don't think we've seen NC0 on the nest since mid-April? There have been at least 3 disturbances this season - walkers near the nest, a kayak and gunshots. But it seems LM12 is still around despite those, and let's hope she's there too, on eggs/with chicks. I'd like to think they're nesting somewhere. Indeed, would he still be around if she wasn't?? I guess it's his nest and he'll defend it, whatever. I can't say I can recall a male hanging around in the absence of a female, but then most seasons, there's been males with females. The only 'failure' years I can recall have been EJ home alone or poorly partnered at Loch Garten.
Morning Korky, The last pic I took of NC0 on the nest was 19th April. Yes I hope she's on a nest with eggs too. There was no chipping from him at all, just a calm visit which was lovely. If he was alone I'd imagine he'd spend more time on the nest? Great to see him though :)

Looking back at the footage, a large bird flew from the right and then back round again prior to the chipping
Coming back...
You're welcome Cirrus
