*It is with much regret to report that Lassie (LF15) failed to return*
‘An Empty Nest’ blog >>> scottishwildlifetrust.org.uk/2020/04/an-empty-nest/
For reasons known only to them, Laddie (LM12) and this season's new female, NC0, have made the decision not to use the webcam nest. We can only hope that they are safe and successfully incubating eggs somewhere in the immediate area of the Loch and that, as this month progresses, they will grace us occasionally with their presence on camera. In the meantime, we will continue to enjoy, and report on, the sights and sounds of this beautiful location.

I have been hearing occasional shots fired this morning, more distant, and not rapid or as loud as yesterday, but that may be the way the wind was blowing yesterday.

More shots at Lowes (but yes, more distant). I checked the County Clays website (thanks Mary) and it says they're closed at present
20:26 Chipping, no osprey seen
LATEST BLOG FROM LOWES - ALL ABOUT GREAT CRESTED GREBES
Thanks for the link to the GC Grebe story video Mary. Lovely to see them displaying. They build such fragile nests, and sometimes lose them (and any eggs) if the water gets too choppy. I've often wondered why Lowes (and others) don't install tern platforms (or similar) to give them a helping hand. Maybe they do and they get rejected.
Korky - The only place I have seen tern platforms is at Loch of Kinnordy, Near Kirriemuir - there is quite a selection of different fowl there.
14:56 Chipping heard, no osprey in view though a few seconds beforehand, an unidentified bird (too distant) flew quickly and low, from left to right, over the Loch
For the record another lovely morning at Lowes. I scrolled back but couldn't see any visits to the nest.
