Daily Update (LG Nest) Saturday 31st July

Well, hello all, Wasn't able to be around at all yesterday as tied up with final day of Kids Summer Club and Concert.  Fab week, but can now get back to serious osprey watching.

Seems it was a varied day with deliveries of fish and comings and goings of youngsters on the nest.  Some fantastic shots by lots of you and have saved some for my portfolio. At present EJ is still on the nest as she was when I logged on about 11.30pm yesterday. Over to the night shift, happy viewing, see you in the morning.

  • She is still there and has found some remnants of a fish and is eating them. Now looking around her , she seems lost , no GEMs to feed, all alone, perhaps not long now to migration!!!!!

  • Hi

Thanks for starting the new thread Lynette.  EJ still on the nest, perhaps planning what stops she'll make on her migration root.  Either that or she's got hold of a laptop, read some of my posts and is in a state of shock. ;-)

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • Well folks, it's the wee small hours of the morning, so I'm going away to roost.  EJ still on the nest.  See you all tommorrow. :-)

EJ still on the nest at 2.30am

She looks so majestic, even at night

  • EJ is still on the nest. The last time I recall her doing this was  last year the day  Rothes left. She stood all night on the nest  with the remains of a  fish for Rothes.

She looks like she is waiting for somebody . In Spring when she is waiting for  Odin to return  she stands on the nest  day and  night looking for him until he  comes back.

Does anyone remember what day  last year that Rothes left?

Is it possible that   eldest  left ?

We certainly don't get much information any more  from the center. They didn't even activate the  camera in the tree this year for close up pictures. They have not told us how far from the nest  the  juves are  flying. Where they are roosting. Nothing ..

  • It is light enough now to see that EJ has been standing on the  remains of a fish all  night . She is nibbling on it  now.  No Juves on the nest , but I hear one   ( or more) chirping in the background

  • The juves are making a racket as if Odin brought them a fish to  the TREE. It sounded like a  fight over the fish. I can hear Titch yelling at it. Now Middle came to the nest  to be fed.  Sure wish  the other  camera was activated.

  • EJ left and  Middle is alone on the nest calling to someone . Now  Middle flew off.  ENS

Middle has developed a very hoarse voice.

Looks like I am  all alone on the  night shift  tonight. LOL

  • Barbara Jean - Think Rothes was last seen on 9 Aug 2009.

  • Please pass the aspirins. Gems are all  yelling in unison . Only one is on the  nest, but the others are close by.

It is Titch on the nest yelling non-stop as loud as he can while  scrounging for scraps

EDIT Suddenly all is silent. EJ and Odin must have gone fishing or to the chemist for  a head ache remedy LOL

In either case they must have left the area.

EJ:  "If we don't  get a  fish soon and shut that  bunch up my head will explode"

Odin: "Mine already  did"  "  I'll race you to the fishing pond "
