DYFI OSPREY PROJECT - 2020

The purpose of this thread is for recording all discussions, news, blogs etc relating to the Dyfi Ospreys and the new Dyfi Wildlife Centre. A separate thread “DYFI NEST OBSERVATIONS & CAPTURES - 2020” will be set up for all “observations”, ”captures” and “videos” of the daily nest activity.

A new season and a new wildlife visitor centre!! While the ospreys have been off on their winter vacation, it has been a very busy time at the Dyfi and finally their new flagship environmentally-based visitor centre is nearing the end of its construction. An exciting year ahead as we await the return of the osprey and the opening of their new centre.

I suggest we keep this thread “Dyfi Osprey Project – 2020” as an annual thread strictly for discussions and recording all updates and blogs from The Dyfi and to set up a separate or monthly threads for posting observation and captures of all nest activity as quite often news/links are being overlooked.

What does everyone else think?

Sounds like a good idea because things will still change and develope after opening.
The new VC is looking very good, but will be rather bare when it opens. There will be lots to do with decorating and refinements that can only be done later in the year.
Most of the furniture will be re-purposed timber, locally sourced and constructed. So it will not be all shiney crome and plastic!
There has been a lot of work done on the reserve in places and some bits will look a bit raw at opening time. Some large old tree roots have been removed, but all the bog plant roots have been left to recover.
The enclosure for Beavers will look "new" but will soon blend in as things start to grow.
