RUTLAND OSPREY PROJECT 2020

Thanks ALAN It is very exciting We were told this is mid June but I don't remmember where it was posted It would be great to hear whetherhe and his partner have managed to raise chicks

Interesting news. Is this the first record of a Rutland bred male breeding outside the Rutland area? I would not be surprised if some of the 'Rutland' nests are actually in neighbouring counties (Rutland is small) but I do not recall any young male (apart from the original translocated birds) setting up home away from the area.

I am pretty sure there are breeding pairs in neighbouring counties. Many sightings at Pitsford and Hollowell reservoirs in Northamptonshire. Also Eyebrook reservoir very popular in Leicestershire

I am also pretty sure there are active Osprey nests fairly far away from Rutland Water, as much as 30 or 35 miles away.

Very sad about S1, he seemed such a strong bird.

Just been reading about S1 Sandra, so very sad.   It shows that even after surviving migrations that they are so vulnerable at every point in their lives.

Very sad and it is also sad that it seems he had no chicks, if I understand the blog correctly. It was such a thrill when 2 of the 2015 Manton Bay chicks had returned, S1 and S2.
