The season continues almost as it started - devoid of ospreys, but now we are even devoid of an empty nest. Should we feel sorry for ourselves we should think of the VC staff and volunteers, whose cam connection was taken down by lightning.
Here's hoping there will be good news today.

(See the difference betwee the screen capture and the download.)
A bit later 2 Wood Pigeons cavorted, one on the nest and the other on the perch tree. I made an effort but they're too distant.

I do not plan to start a September thread but if anyone wants to, they're welcome
If no thread is started when I check in tomorrow, I will amend August's title "...to cam shutdown" or similar.

19:40 CAM DOWN - is this it?
Hmm, it seems to be trying to get back to us.
Another "hmm", looks like we should have had a new thread today - I misremembered the VC closing date.
Cam back up.
I've no idea what these were - they remind me a bit of Cormorant, but...
I had to do a lot of work on it because the light was so poor. There are substantial pale areas when the birds are in flight or when the perch bird bends over.
See the back of the bird?

I got directed to a cormoranty bird by (what I perceived to be) a long neck-stretch by the perched bird, plus a turn revealing a long beak - but we need more pixels :(
