Link to July 2019 thread
The 2 chicks were ringed on 4 July and assessed as female. They were given ring numbers JJ0 and JJ2, and later named by popular vote as Mallie and Rannoch. Both weighed 1.49kg on ringing but will weigh a lot more now after a further month's-worth of protein-packed-piscine-parenting. The WT subsequently said they thought Mallie may be male. S/he fledged on 20 July and Rannoch on 27 July.

I've had to remove nearly all snaps from here as the post was sent for moderation and, as you know, we have no moderators.
Mallie crash-landed noisily! They both sat waiting and a rainbow formed and disappeared, then a tiddler arrived, which Rannoch received, rather to her surprise:
Rainbow :)
16:18 a SUPERDUPER WIDE-MOUTHED WHOPPER !!! The kids were stunned into inaction ;-D Mallie got it, but in the end had to leave some for Rannoch - who couldn't eat it all.
Little bird - Wren :)
Rannoch's turn to crash! And Louis is making up for a slow start to the day - flounder this time:
Heehee:
Mallie got the fish but I think Rannoch is currently eating it.
IMAGICAT
These (now resized) snaps go with my last post. As I can't see them very well on my laptop screen, I hope they're the right ones.
This might be the Wren:
Unable to get a really good shot of the flounder and Louis at the same time, and when landed it was messy-looking:
Birdies LG DU update.
Wren was back but even less adventurous than yesterday:
This morning Louis (with half a very stiff fish) and Mallie landed in the same split second :o
Rannoch arrived soon after and made straight for the nestover flounder:
To my surprise, Mallie tried to pinch the stale fish but didn't try very hard and Rannoch kept it:
Both proceeded to eat their own fish, but Mallie had a couple of tantrums and flew off and back.
Then another surprise - for the first time (that I've seen) Rannoch flew with her fish - round 'n round, squealing all the while, and safely back to the nest!
Mallie also flew with fish:
After an ENS break they both returned shouting:
No new fish arrived so Mallie left and Rannoch had a go at her flounder tail:
Evidently she couldn't finish it off, as Mallie found it and did so, getting the fin down with some faffing:
More ENS, Rannoch was on the nest twice, the mist came and went, as did Mallie.
Rannoch's fly-off:
Mallie got a whole flounder, Rannoch not seen, Mallie still eating:
Rannoch can be heard shouting but still not yet seen.
