Link to June 2019 thread (Following Karen's excellent example of providing useful links....)
On 1 July, chick 1 is 30 days old. Chick 2, from egg 3, is 27 days old.
Apart from the sad failure-to-hatch of egg 2 , everything has been reasonably settled on the nest, and Louis is in the running for Mary's 'Fisherman of the Year Award'.

Thanks Mike.. .
I am well aware of all Liz does, and who she is.... Didn't realise the name ' Rannoch' was associated with her. It all makes sense now.
Thanks Ian
I am well familiar with 'Rannoch' being associated with the area of Rannoch Moor etc...but thought it was far to far away to associate with Loch Arkaig. but I guess the 'bracken' interpretation makes sense.... except at this time of year, it appears half of Scotland is covered with the stuff
Scottish Bracken - harbourer and home to many a midge... AND DON'T I KNOW IT

Trying, don't know if it was a typo but apart from Louis there are no "him" on the nest. Both chicks are girls despite Rannoch sounding like a boys name (in my opinion). Ian
Just in a hurry Ian to get to work and not thinking . I didn't have time to check the gender , just hoped for the best
scylla said:I would have preferred "Bracken", it has a more feminine feel - indeed I think I've seen it as a girl's name. Maybe Liz was too modest to allow it.
Scylla, I could be wrong with this & don't have the patience to trawl back through the WT chat, but I think that there is already an osprey called Bracken which is the reason it wasn't used, see below from UK opsreys, with the Kielder Bracken being a boy. Ian
