Hi all: First off, con't miss the last page of last week's chat for lovely photo of Alan's hibiscus and OG's very informative shots of the nest at LG, showing the perch under the nest where chick #1 likes to sit.
OG. Assume plumber on the list for next week. So Boat of Garten actually has something to do with a real boat! I thought it was some obscure Scottish vernacular-ish term that had nothing to do with a boat. There was a nature program here last week about "preparing" an environment for some species that are living in an area that is expected to be threatened by higher ocean levels in the coming years. As with the Lapwings, the change has to be made gradually.
Cirrus. A 12-mile hike! I probably burned a couple of hundred calories just thinking about it.
Was in the garden all day - as I type have the soaker hose going on the camellias, which I fed and which need deep watering about twice in the summer; they're putting out buds now. Also fed the roses and plumeria. Found a volunteer duranta repens growing in one of the plumeria pots - I thought it was familiar but only recognized it today. Sun came out around 11 and lovely cool evening now.
Marvellous, TerryM - what a great idea to put the pipes in the wall. That is what is great about this forum, sharing and getting fresh ideas.
Eyes drooping, probably due to food and wine ot the restaurant. Must go, thanks to all, especially for the help with posting pics. I will definitely try it but don't hold your breath. Forthcoming attraction. Night all --
Goodnight Heather B glad you enjoyed your meal.
Margobird
Chatty day – must have been wet – it was here, with drizzle since noon. OH did jobs needing first phone ad then electrics off, so I tidied my card-making supplies.
Margobird – pleased you enjoyed the folk club. Have a good day at the races – and a good rest Sunday!!
Heather – Aphids not bad here this year, despite having seen no Ladybirds! I hope we eventually see your lovely Grapevine – just seen you say you have put it on the Gallery – will have a search for it! Surely you can expect at least a sample fro the person who had last year’s grapes?! Pleased you enjoyed your evening out – especially with the voucher to ease the strain on the wallet!!
Dibnlib – OOOH – lots of pennies for a tooth! I have gaps because I don’t want false teeth. Lovely pictures, especially Poppies – where on the Beauly Firth do you go to take pictures? – and is it accessible to an old crock like me? Sensible not to overdo the exercise for Dillon today – I hope he will soon be fit.
DjoanS – lovely thought, re-filling cupboards – I shall have to accept help when mine are ready as I’m no good at reaching or bending. So happy that you saw a good flock of Lapwings this afternoon!
Patriciat – doctor doesn’t sound very helpful, and what good is mobility when every step hurts?!! But at least you got an X-ray. Great to see the Corn Snake at last – well done!
Terry – lovely Sparrows and Swallows! One of the advantages of an older building.
Heather – just found the Grapevine pictures – wow!! I didn’t expect black grapes, I’m sure I was once told by a viticulturalist (?) that it’s difficult to grow black ones in the UK, even in Kent and Sussex. I love your outdoor sitting/eating place – very pretty and the vine makes it look more like Italy than Scotland!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
margobird - it wasn't me who posted the pic of the corn snake I tnink it was patriciat! I do post pics, but can't claim that lovely and unusual one :-))
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

Diane – thanks for good hol wishes, I’m off to LG on Monday, hope the rain holds off! Neighbour looks after cats and hens while we’re away. I would ask for a delivery of cinnamon pumpkin bars with cream cheese icing but I suspect you’ll have eaten them all by now : )). That red cardinal is stunning!
AQ, hope you’re feeling better.
LOL Alan, 18 degrees is a little cool I agree, but I can’t take many days of 24 anymore after living in the frozen north for nearly 20 years! ChrisyB is correct, we probably get less rain than her as we are out of the mountains and nearer the coast. Keswick is only 20 miles away but is very near Borrowdale which has very high rainfall though. Love the pic of Hamish at the top of the stairs.
Annette, I’m glad Lightning seems to be getting used to you instead OH, were you lolling on the carpet with her? And glad you’re doing what you want while he’s over here, I eat at very strange times when on my own.
Lindy – thanks for the flower show info and pic, maybe we’ll go one day, either drive ourselves or a coach trip from Carlisle. Glad to hear you are recovering. Love the duck poem.
Wattle, welcome back, glad you had a good trip, and saw AQ and an osprey, wow! Shame about the car, you were lucky to get it fixed at that hour, or did you do it yourself?
jsb, I’m listening to Radio Classique now. I only ever listen to Radio 3, and it’s nice to have something when they are doing a talk programme, thanks!
Ok, I’ve read to page 5 and it’s a quarter to 11, so I’ll save the rest for tomorrow. Good night all.

Tiger Signature
Hi, all. Very hectic, long day here. Weather cooled off a bit, and I had lots of errands to run and tasks to complete. Before leaving, I did a thorough bunny check to make sure the rabbits weren't lingering under the car. Found one little fella napping. I told them they could take shelter from the sun under there, as long as they didn't chew any car parts or wiring. They seemed to understand, but rabbits have short attention spans. They usually only focus on one thing.... ;-)))
Really tired, and I've thrown my back out of kilter, so I'm headed for bed. Sorry no specific replies. Will catch up with everyone later. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Tiger: Love that eclipse pic. Wish I could have gone to Easter Island for the event.
Diane That is the whole problem with eclipses, one never knows if it is going to be clear or not. I am going to see some people today who did go to the eclipse but I think they went to French Polynesia.
Re school knickers, ours were navy blue, then we started wearing more modern knickers but still had to put the navy ones on top for games. No shorts, but wrap around skirts like a kilt, flat front, pleats at the back. No knicker pockets for hankies! We hated our panamas, summer hats were abandoned a couple of years after I started grammar school. Winter hats were berets for my first two years but then they “modernised” to a bakerboy style, which I hated as I wasn’t a modern girl (and I’m still not). We went straight from socks to tights, never had a suspender belt, but rarely wear hated tights, I’m a trousers or long skirt woman (especially since my knees turned into older-woman-knees).
Dibnlib, sorry you have been unwell and didn’t get away, hope you are recovering.
Lindybird, loved your poem for Margo, well done remembering everything. Margobird, you have been very active this year and now it’s the Lion King, luck you!
Beautiful clematis OG, I too love any clematis I see.
AQ, really liked “everyone brings happiness into this office – some when they enter, some when they leave”, absolutely true! I think I’ll print it out on a card and put it up at work.
Nice to see you again auntie, how hot is hot for you? 60% humidity sounds bone dry! (Ok, high normal then.)
Alan, well done on the osprey fishing pic. Hope you haven’t enjoyed the underwear and flab discussions more than you should!
Heather, good that SiL back home, also stepdaughter.
Diane, will you be posting pics of your new clothes? : ))
DjoanS, congrats on the quick kitchen refurb, I expect you’ve got everything neatly away by now.
Got to page 10 now but must go and clear out the cats’ shed (where they sleep at night, too many to have in the kitchen and it gives the early morning birds a chance of a cat-free breakfast). Back later.
PS I also have a button box, via my mum and added to by me.
