The season so far: Mrs G arrived back 25 March and Aran on 1 April. Mrs G laid 3 eggs 13, 16 and 19 April hatching 19, 21 and 24 May. Mrs G and Aran continue to work hard to raise their young and Aran is once more proving to be an excellent provider bringing in plenty of fish to feed his family.

Now a wet Mrs G spread over her chicks. I can't believe it's raining again!

Good fish on the nest but I don't think I've managed to capture it fully (too slow for live snaps!):
IMAGICAT
Post Mortem report for Chick 2 here. Pneumonia and lung haemorrhage associated with lungworm infestation, together with acute blood loss anaemia.
Oh the poor little thing, it really was very ill I wonder how it contracted lungworm?
Thank you for posting the information and link Vespa
Birdies LG DU update.
Oh what a shame, the poor little chick :-( And thanks VC for the link and to all who contributed towards costs :-) With having a labrador, I've really only associated lungworm with dogs at risk if eating slugs, snails and I think also frogs and toads can carry the parasite. I wonder if there has been something attached to a fish or perhaps on a stick brought in that the poor little thing has picked up .... so strange to hear of this in a bird but just goes to show!
