The season so far: Maya arrived back 14 March and Blue 33(11) on 23 March. Maya laid 4 eggs 2, 5, 8 and 11 April hatching 11, 11, 13 and 17 May. Maya and 33 continue to work hard to raise their young and 33 is once more proving to be an excellent provider bringing in plenty of fish to feed his family.

Thanks Birdie - great having some vids of the helicoptering. And hopefully Rutland can manage to get us a little more air space LOL to see them "up there" for they are really reaching great heights!
A couple of minutes ago I checked in and had a heart flutter - I didn't capture it, but one chick was missing. Maya moved slightly and it was lying down behind her!
Then there seemed to be a moment of concern . One chick was half mantling, one lying down,
and then all watching above .... there was a fish delivery!!
33 was soon off the nest. One chick appeared to be helping itself, but the others weren't interesting. However only one chick is now being fed by Maya, and others are looking around, checking the water below or wingercising.

It would be nice to have playback! At 17.30 the chick on the RHS at the front shook its head and appeared to bring up something. I have no idea what; it could have been fluid, but as I have three screens open none is very large so I couldn't see easily.
17.34 May has flown. An opportunity for more wingercising!
17.37
and then disappeared from the screen for quite a few seconds before safely landing
and was off again!
All very eager!
I really must learn how to fly and go and explore! Something caught its eye below

Chris Wood was at Rutland yesterday and witnessed 055's lift-offs. He posted two vids on various FB groups y'day, and gave me permission to post them here.
055 doing some practice flying lessons today with Mum, Maya, checking on his progress.

18:38 Maya arrived with a large stick
the chicks grab it
And gasp seeing the stick in front of another chick but all was OK
and finally and safely in place
18:40 Unseen intruder. Maya starts screeching and mantling and 33 comes in to defend
threat passes quickly and 33 and Maya stand guard over the Fantastic Four
Maya then flew leaving 33 in charge. 33 then picked up the fish that was lying at the back of the nest and then flew off with it.
Once more this intruder is around causing Maya to screech and mantle
Maya wing flapping and now she has flown giving chase - just caught glimpse of chase top RH corner
33 returns with the fish
33 flies off and Maya starts to feed the chicks
