LOCH OF THE LOWES – MAY 2019

I'm sorry to say it looks like it might be over, I'm in tears here and can't watch anymore.

Looking back at the footage, it doesn’t look great. The Bob kept raising its head and looking at the nest cup, but didn’t seem to be able to move. Eventually, it stopped raising its head, and hasn’t moved since.

I scrolled back. The chick ends up on his back. I'd thought he was spread-eagled on his front but I think he's still on his back, over the chunky 'bridge-like' stick. I guess exposing his tummy like that means he loses a lot of heat fast, plus maybe breathing is more difficult on his back. He certainly seems to get a wee trample from both mum towards the end of the feed, and also from Laddie when he lands to take the fish.

Absolutely devastated, tears are flowing here too, I had so much hope for the dear soul right from the moment of its hatching. RIP little one

Oh how very sad. How quickly these things can happen.

Night cam on. No movement from the wee one.

OH dear, come on here tonight to catch up and see that there could be a possible casualty. What a shame.

Chick #3 was a joy to watch, I really didn't expect this, you think of all the things that might happen, but this wasn't one of them. It was a feisty wee thing who had just started to find it's place, and I'm going to miss watching it so much, so many lovely moments in such a short life.
