DYFI OSPREYS - APRIL 2019

Telyn, asleep in a strong head wind

  • After he had given Telyn her measly portion, Monty did a little bit of stick arranging, nothing much, but then ventured some nestcupping and that got out of hand.

    It started out well enough::

He decided to advance forward and give it welly:

    Then the wind caught him:

    He managed to right himself:

But another gust nearly tipped him over ;)

He ended up looking somewhat the worse for wear :'(

  • Monty was fine Slight smile

He had a sweet preen on the low perch:

I found Telyn on Cam2 with either tailends or small fish THREE times within 3 hours:

Monty was sufficiently recovered to get well tucked in for this mating :)

    The weather closed in:

    Then seriously brightened up again!

    (Telyn gaping, not shouting.)

It soon got misty and rainy again.  Then cleared up for a decent fish delivery from Monty (the fly-in was blurry):

Monty got company from a Raven several times, eventually he flew up over the cam.

Hail on nest - a long way from Rutland, was it all over the midlands?

The wayward stick wasn't fully noticeable until nightcam - a job for Monty in the morning:

Telyn fell asleep on Monty's perch with her fish underfoot:

    And Monty took Telyn's perch:

I've lost the snap showing Monty's face... lord knows where they go if I forget to name them (they all get called Clipboard01)... found it!  But not as helpful as I'd hoped and it won't enlarge cos it's been resized.  It is he, I guarantee ;)

    G'night!

  • Wonderful sequences of yesterday's events Scylla, thank you :)
  • Monty woke and popped onto the (haily) nest:

Him being so very beautiful, he has to have more snaps than strictly necessary ;)

    When the daycam's fuzz cleared:

Telyn woke and had breakfast left over from the night before:

Then she kindly took it to Monty:

Monty took Telyn's place on the perch:

    Evidently a tough-skinned mullet:

    She feaked:

    And repaired to her perch:

  • No blow-by-blow account today, just a couple of snaps.

    Telyn's dotted eye:

    And again:

    Nap time here :)

  • Every time I looked on the nest, mind you not many, no-one was on.

Thanks for all updates and the pics, Scylla.
  • Some random snaps - they had a weird and wet day.

    The weird ;-D

Monty brought a stick and 'straw' to the perch:

Eventually he toyed with it and gradually let it drop, bit by bit:

    Telyn with flounder:

She got bullied away by a Raven:

    Another tough-skinned fish:

    Monts:

Kite intruder?  I had more/better of this but had a mishap :(

I have to leave it there for now, hope to have the evening in a few hours' time.

  • No Monty

  • Good morning everyone

I think it might be Telyn on the perch, she is calling.  Snow/sleet/rain flurry falling and it's a windy night, a train can be heard trundling in the background.

Is the perch shown on the nest cam, the same as the perch in the second cam?

Another train is passing in the other direction - towards us - and the precipitation gets heavier.

  • SHEILA asked:

Is the perch shown on the nest cam, the same as the perch in the second cam?

The  perch on Cam2 is the high perch, and it's the right-hand "arm" looking the opposite way from the main cam (according to my detectitve work ;) )

    Good morning, all!
