FLS ABERFOYLE 2019

  • Thanks COLIN Hope things continue smoothly
  • I agree, yes, thanks, Colin! It is amazing that the male seems to accept the eggs rather than kicking them out. Is he generous or just a bit dim?! I do hope that it is Clarach's previous mate.

    Kind regards, Ann

  • Posted on The Lodge VC fb page, another short video clip of Clarach and the male on the nest

    Here

  • Another trip to Aberfoyle, and Clarach on the eggs when I arrived, yelling for food (there's no sound on the webcam picture in the VC but you could tell from her behaviour). She turned the eggs a few times, then flew off for a break. The male flew in a minute later and sat straight on the eggs, closely followed by Clarach, still yelling for a fish. She took off again smartish I guess to get her own supper. I've posted the information board they have in the centre. It's interesting to note that her last observed mating with White CL was 30 April, and the first observed mating with the unringed male (maybe her partner from last year) was 3 May. First egg they reckon was laid 4 May.......who's the daddy? They're assuming she's had more eggs of course whose parentage is perhaps less in question! I'll post a few more snaps in a separate post.

  • Clarach, and her departing for a comfort break

Male landing, closely followed by Clarach, yelling!

I'll get my own fish then

    Of course I'm the daddy

Moira and Jill, FLS staff, both very helpful and must have uploaded the video after I'd left!

  • Thank you for the information Korky and yes, I wonder who the daddy is of the first egg! Pleased that the unringed male is doing his duty and providing well for Clarach :)
  • Thanks Korky. What a great report.
  • Yes, a very good report Korky, thank you.

But, did Clarach have to get her own fish then !!! ?????? I take it the video is online. Well, if it is I can't access it, sigh

  • Cirrus, I posted a link to the video above Korky's fantastic report

  • Just can't find it Sandra !!!!!! I've scrolled up slowly, is it below the information board?

Ah, got it  Sandra   thanks very much
