I thought I'd start a new thread for Aberfoyle. Especially for Sandra (other dedicated Aberfoyle watchers are also available).
Here's the link to last year's thread.
Clarach and her beau both arrived on 15 April last year. Here's the countdown clock (from Pete Dee's site)
Clarach arrived back at her nest on 10 April 2019

"Clarach on the nest most of the day today. Displaying behaviours consistent with incubation."
Birdies LG DU update.
Here's a quick screen shot of her sitting on the nest looking very comfortable.

Unknown said:Is anyone able to explain why Clarach has a new mate please? I just can't keep up with all this. Who is the new mate and why did her partner of last year move on? Did he infact, not return this year???
The short answer is no. The 'new mate' is an unringed bird as was her mate of last year. The absence of a camera makes comparison virtually impossible.
If it is her old mate he was just a late returner perhaps.
The White ringed bird just left.
Mystery all round I'm afraid.
Well, that satisfies me, thank you Mike. I'm going for her mate of last year being a late returner for reasons unknown. . Makes logical sense to me. I so appreciate your timely response Mike.
