Delyth at Llyn Clywedog nest in Mid Wales
had her first three eggs kicked out one year by a new male that took over (Dylan)
Subsequently she laid and raised another three that year. So anything is possible.

(Both birds are un-ringed so are named for convenience.)

Oh dear that's worrying. What made White CL move on. The incomer, or did he after all have another nest.
Of course it happened to EJ when Odin was late back, and Blue XD took his chances.
Given that Aberfoyle thought she was exhibiting behaviour which suggested she had laid egg(s)... what will happen next, duff, duff, duff!

SheilaFE If the male there now is the original partner from 2017 /18 then CL would be moved off. We await further developments.
Frustrating not having the camera but these things must play out on many other nests that we can not see.
Let's hope the camera can be fixed.

Mike, If the unringed male is Clarach's mate from 2017 and 2018, then that would be fabulous news, provided that there is still time enough for Clarach to lay more eggs if he kicks out any eggs already there (if there are any!)

Is anyone able to explain why Clarach has a new mate please? I just can't keep up with all this. Who is the new mate and why did her partner of last year move on? Did he infact, not return this year???

The short answer is no. The 'new mate' is an unringed bird as was her mate of last year. The absence of a camera makes comparison virtually impossible.

If it is her old mate he was just a late returner perhaps. 

The White ringed bird just left.

Mystery all round I'm afraid.
