The Poole Harbour Translocation Thread for 2019 - 2020

Like Alison I have the RX10 Mk 4.
Its a very good piece of kit and I don't think you'd be disappointed.

There is a setting in the menu which takes it out to 1200mm with a claim of no noticeable loss of quality. I have tried this setting and it's pretty good. This is on top of the normal optical zoom and the digital zoom settings.

Have you tried this setting yet Alison?

Not sure I have Richard. I’ve used full digital zoom but the quality isn’t that great for me. I prefer to stick to the optical zoom.

Wonderful view of an osprey (probably CJ7) catching a fish this morning in Wareham Channel, from the Birds of Poole Harbour bird boat.
Beaky has not been seen since setting off high to the SW on Friday morning.
Still waiting for males and/or returning youngsters from 2017.

It must be close to the return of the first Poole osprey. Maybe by 31st May?

Thing is, it’ll have to land on one of the nests with a camera trap or be snapped by a long lens in order to be identified. Fingers crossed that will happen! Otherwise it’s a bit needle in a haystack stuff as the area is so large.
