HAPPY NEW WEEK!I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
I'm including a link to this 1-minute video just because I thought it was funny. It's a parody of the David Attenborough BBC Planet Earth scene about the Bird of Paradise male trying to attract a mate. It made me laugh out loud. I thought others maybe could use a laugh, too.
Goodness, Diane! Fancy seeing one up that close! - how exciting! Read all about them and their history in your link.
You'll be looking out of the window more often now, I think, wondering if they'll come and visit again.
Lindy: I'll have to be careful when I'm outdoors, because I know that wild turkeys can be aggressive. Usually, though, the aggressive ones are birds that have become habituated to humans, especially if people in the suburbs are feeding them. So I won't try to get too close my new friends. LOL! I was really honored by their visit. Generally, they are very wild, elusive birds. In all my years in the woods, I've never been that close to one.
Wild from the Woods
My visitor was turned from me, but suddenly looked back
She saw me staring, open mouthed, and afraid of an attack
She ushered her small brood away, away into the wood.
Her strange and beady eye was bright, her feathers were all straight,
She did not panic but she knew
For safety, not to wait.
The little ones, quite unaware, all scuttled through the brush:
Their mother shepherded them away, without telling them to rush.
For Man, the enemy, can be danger to them all,
And even though He might not strike,
She knows not what might befall.
So off they go, to travel far, and blend deftly into the trees
Leaving me now, all agog, saying
"Come back soon, oh, please!"
What an experience, DIANE! I'm going to look closer later tonight, when everyone else is sleeping.
My family leave here tomorrow.
Lindy: That poem is perfect. LOL! Thank you. That's wonderful.
Heather: Enjoy your family.
Glad you enjoyed, Diane :-) Your experience moved me. I hope you see them again.
Yes, Heather, enjoy having your family.
For our friends in USA -
LOL LOL! That's good, Lindy.

RSPB Giving Nature a Home
Just had a quick run through all posts and see that everyone has been busy doing something or other.
OG - I notice that your GWA was yesterday 2nd August, so Congratulations on reach that wonderful milestone. May you go on to celebrate many more. Also what delightful pictures of your little munchkin.
FB - see that you have been having some health issues, glad its all going to sorted for you and treatment will soon be underway. Hopefully you will be feeling much better soon.
Been mixed weather down here but mostly dry and humid - every time you do something you feel all hot and sticky. Managed to get to the gym twice this week although yesterday didn't have the stamina to do what I normally do - full of a cold and cough which will hopefully go soon.
Off to see the specialist next Thursday re something neurological that seems to be going on. Just want reassurance that it is not too serious but we will have to wait and see.
Annette - hope you are away from those forest fires . Stay safe , and you too, Diane.
Have a good weekend all, and don't get up to any mischief!!!!
