HAPPY NEW WEEK!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

I'm including a link to this 1-minute video just because I thought it was funny. It's a parody of the David Attenborough BBC Planet Earth scene about the Bird of Paradise male trying to attract a mate. It made me laugh out loud. I thought others maybe could use a laugh, too.

  • Happy Anniversary, OG & Eagle Eye!  - hope you enjoyed your lunch.

Heather:  It certainly pays to keep up with their favourite TV programmes!

Dry here, but mostly cloudy: I put the laundry out with one eye on the skies. Been out for milk & bread, and dropped my OH off at the barber's.

Laughed at all the childrens bathroom stories!!  My sons have found those fold up steps invaluable for bathroom activities for the little ones.

  • Well done Heather. Quick thinking!  I vaguely remember Dora the Explorer. I  think I must have watched it with the  granddaughter. I rather liked it. I think we had a Dora the Explorer magnifying glass. (or am I confused)?

The flat below us is being refurbished, We have already had three weeks of banging, drilling, and just don't mention the dust! We need to keep the windows closed which is not great at this time of year. Very depressing.

Hope you had a good lunch OG and Eagle Eye.

Hello to Lindy and everyone else.

  • Hello, Rosy :-)  That sounds awful, having to keep the windows closed. Hope it's soon completed.

Hope that all went well with the Drs appointment, OG.

Been doing the dreaded ironing, whilst catching up on some tv we missed whilst away. Keep forgetting which day of the week I'm on, and then panicking that I might have forgotten something. Must calm down!

--  -- And how can it possibly be August, already!?

  • Beautiful young lady, OG.

Heather – You have passed the g-mother test with flying colours!

Nanny duty yesterday – I let myself in, greeted by 2 cats and silence. Hm, no dog. They must all be out for a walk. List of chores on kitchen bench – fold washing, hang washing, empty dishwaher. I started with the dishwasher as I prefer to work unaided. MissJ likes to extract each item, one at a time, naming them as she hands to me. It takes ages. When the rabble returned, I was halfway through folding wash. Twins bath was added to list, helped chop things for tea. Read books, oversaw MissL retire for her nap, sang a book to MissJ. “On the first day of C-mas . . . a cat in a fur tree (yes, fur tree), on the second day 2 chewed slippers . . . 4 old hounds . . . all the way to 12. Apparently MissJ climbed up (I hate to think) to find all the C-mas books and Dau has not had time to collect & replace them. After 2 hours I flopped on lounge, 2 mins later MissJ pops up with a game, Snakes & Ladders. Rules have changed again. Previously she would not slide down snakes, now, if she can place counter without touching snake’s head, she doesn’t slide. She won – again. I said next time I would win. “No, G’an, you’ll forget how to play.” MissL appeared just before I left. Last time she told me she missed out on fun while she naps. Awww.

  • Happy Anniversary OG and EE! The 50th right?

  • Happy Belated Anniversary OG and EE.  Hope you had a good lunch.

AQ: Watch out, those kids get craftier when it comes to "winning" Snakes & Ladders!

  • Oh, bjane, you've reminded me that OG & EE were going to celebrate their 50th!  I had forgotten about it.

    Good Morning, All.

AQ -  You certainly have interesting Nanny Days.  We thought we would be going down to look after our little 'uns after their holiday in Wales, which is starting today, but now they are booked into Holiday Activities plus Matthew will be in nursery.

I'm off to get my hair cut, will be walking in as the bigger car started making strange noises on the way home the other day, so is booked in to the garage tomorrow.

  • HAPPY 50th ANNIVERSARY, OG AND EE!!

     Hope you had lovely day.

  • Didn't get back on here yesterday - lunch expanded as both OH and J "needed" desserts, so we had to go straight to doctor - in rain - then a sort-of tea (didn't want much) happened and flopped in front of TV in the evening!  Lunch was good but not outstanding - and I hadn't realised hotel renovations were still ongoing, so there was intermittent noise from nail guns.  J said I should try to imagine it was "just" a farmer out shooting, and my reply was that I already imagine that and I don't like it!  Dr was helpful - doesn't think I have a big problem, two sorts of medicine and go back in 3-4 weeks.

Were thinking of a drive to Langholm today for concert tickets and an incidental lunch, but weather is still dismal, so OH will go on his own after a bacon buttie at home.  No other plans today, so will just pootle about at home.

Thanks for all good wishes for yesterday.  Heard from quite a few family members - even Dau#1 managed an email, although main content was details of her itinerary for two weeks in Germany!

ROSY - sorry about the neighbour's noise and dust and the need for closed windows - I hope you have fans or some sort of aircon to keep you cool!

AQ - I had wondered when Miss L would realise she misses out on Nanny time by sleeping in the afternoon!  But it sounds as if Miss J is enough for one pair of eyes and hands!

BJANE - yes, you are right: 50 years.  Doesn't seem possible!

LINDA - can't you use Ruby to go to hairdresser today, rather than walking?  I hope the bigger car doesn't have a serious problem.  You don't sound too disappointed at not having Nanny duty after the boys' holiday!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
