We are left with a mystery at the end of yesterday, brought to light by BNN. At 21:35, were there 3 ospreys near or on the nest, one flying with fish, or not? Interesting questions since though GJ has been quite attentive in the mating/dancing department, we have not seen him bring EJ any fish recently. Ej caught her own in the morning from Aviemore's fish farm. So who was that flying with fish? (capture by BNN) Timestamp: 21:35:57?
I am bringing this forward from yesterday:

Good morning and thank you, CC :)
As you have brought forward yesterday evening's mystery events, I'll say here that I woke up @ 2140hr (just checked the time), took the cover off the LG laptop and saw the cam was down - hit F5 and the cam came up with GJ dismounting from EJ's back. I simply could not stay up, so am now going to check what has survived.

Huhn. Would he have had a fish while attempting to mate? Curiouser and curiouser. Let us know what you dig up. :-*

Hardly anything, CC :( The cam went down again as soon as I went back to sleep. Definitely 3 birds from BIRDIE's spirited rescue snap ;)
I enlarged it, thinking there might have been a blue ring - but it's probably shadow, like they do get on their dang ankles:
I'll just do a video of the scrap of GJ's mating.
Mating and notes on the evening's debacle HERE.
But is it possible that the middle figure have been an artifact of the camera glitch while it was reconstituting itself, but really is the same one taking off with the fish???

Good thinking, CC - but then what could the subsequent events have been, to find GJ and EJ mating 5 minutes later? I suppose the cam could have been doing replays?
No, because the Carnyx time-stamp shows it was accurate.
Yes, it does not make sense. If it was indeed a third osprey flying by with fish, as it seems to be, was it also courting EJ? Well, I suppose time will tell who she eventually chooses. Whoever it is, I hope he deserves her.
Edit: Bah, I just went over your most excellently documented events, despite cam bolluxes. No good answers other than a third osprey with fish.
Unless this was part of the reconstitution?
Coffee time ;)
No, I think that blob is a badly rendered stick.

That must have been me clutching at straws ;)
