Thanks, All, for posts and pics. Lovely to know the ringing went successfully. Off topic but still related, while we were watching Blue 24's nest from across the lake at Llyn Brenig on Monday afternoon a car stopped and the man inside told us that a boat had gone over to the nest in the morning with a ringer who went 'prepared to ring 2 chicks'. Unfortunately, the man in the car did not know what the outcome was and if the nest actually held 2 chicks! Initially, while we watched, we could only see one adult Osprey on the nest. About half an hour later, the adult leaped off the nest and dived into the water only a few metres from the nest, emerged and flew in an arc and landed back on the nest. The whole thing went so quickly that it only took about as much time as it takes to tell it. Then we noticed a second Osprey which we presumed to be a chick. The head of the adult was alternately going up and down so we presumed it was feeding itself and/or perhaps feeding a chick or chicks. Plan to go back if we have time.
Kind regards, Ann
Thank you Ann. Hopefully more details will emerge later. Enjoy your trip.

Thanks ANN Lovely to have news of B24 and to know she has, at last, at least one offspring
Morning, Patily. Yes, and a bit sad that Glesni is not here any longer, but it is great for her cousin, Blue 24, at long last at the age of 8 to have her own mate and nest and her very first chick (or chicks!). Glesni was hatched the same year as Blue 24, 2010, and Glesni had chicks each year from 2013 through 2017. Luck, good and bad, plays a part in the lives of Ospreys (and presumably of our lives as well, but we have medicines and hospitals, etc. to help combat some of the bad luck!)
Apologies, Everyone, for being off the topic of the Glaslyn Ospreys--if we visit her nest again, I will hunt down the Blue 24 thread!
Here Ann.
Thanks, Mike. Off to the Dyfi soon and back on the Forum tonight.
Arran has a fish but no one is bothered! Must be stuffed full.
Mrs G and the chicks all settled and seemingly waiting for breakfast.
