A very quick intro because of pressures here, but I want to do it so that we at least have a UK English date, after the Americans :-* hijacked us 2 days running :o :o :o
EJ spent the whole day off the nest yesterday (vid showing departure and return with GJ, briefly, and settling for the night) - much to our relief. It was a pretty horrible day for the poor eggs to be exposed to, but we really do not want any hatch whatsoever, given the unlikelihood of provisions being supplied by that dork GJ. (Sorry, GJ, but you are not fit for purpose, intentionally or otherwise.)
We have been given hope by ChrisT that the PTZ (roving/roaming cam) may be online soon - what a difference that would make to us.
EJ is currently tucked in:
IMAGICAT
Good morning, MARY :-* I've been at LOTL, back to insert EJ flying off now, she's still not back.
Good Morning SCYLLA TRYING and MARY What a sad scene
A minute or so ago there were a few chirps I wonder if she is on the perch under the nest again

I didn't find it, PATILY, only a Willow Warbler(?). Unusually, I've got another osprey nest open, LOTL, so I've found that confusing and thought I could hear an LG osprey when it was LOTL. But maybe I didn't search far back enough to hear what you heard :-/
Good morning all. Here's EJ, shouting on her way to the nest
She's back with shouts, settling onto eggs.

Glowering :o
MaryGK said:There are those who would write her off because she is getting on in years, that says more about them than it does about EJ
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Oh well, at least one or two were varied, MOFFER ;-D
Clare Bailey said:I suspect if EJ were an unknown, unringed bird most of these would guess her age to be rather lower than it actually is! She is formidable.
I suspect that EJ has always looked to be a mature bird. How I'd love to have known her in her first 2-3 years :)
