  • Gosh I just HATE the new Windows 10 photo software!!  More later after I've stopped using sweary words.

  • Annette - lovely pictures.  Sadly, although wheelie bins and engines are not particularly pretty they are rather important!  The rape crop seems to have been particularly 'yellow' this year, but seemed to last only a very short time.

  • Good to see some photos, ANNETTE - although just seeing the Rape Seed made me sneeze!  Thanks for info about the year's whale count figures - seems like the season just started, and now it's over.  I hope thee won't be long-term effects for the poor feeding year - seems so sad after that promising first day!

Good sermon today for Pentecost.  Have read the text of the Bishop's sermon yesterday - very similar in parts!  I haven't done much today - seem to have pulled a muscle in my side - hurts when I turn, reach or sneeze!  OH didn't get much time in the garden, just did a bit of weeding.  Now watering yet again!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Enjoyed the pics, Annette!  -- I havn't even tried to use the photo bit of my pc since I was forced to have Windows 10. I don't understand any of it.... Love the tower!

The two houses having the extensions are four and five houses away from us, so we will only be inconvenienced by the extra vehicles and things. :-)

Had a busy day, after expecting a quiet one!  Went for a walk this morning (Bonnie got wet in a lake!) then when we returned, we had visitors who we had not expected. Nice to sit in the garden and talk, in the sunshine.  Then after lunch, we had a visit from our next door neighbour inviting us around as they were having a birthday party for the baby - she is one today.  We popped around, and were plied with barbequed chicken legs, wine and birthday cake!! Other friends of ours were there and we had another couple of hours chatting, in the sun!

  • OG - Hope you feel better tomorrow.  It's so easy to pull a muscle.

  • Thank you, Annette for the explanation of tree watering. It makes sense for areas that do not have much rainfall.

I have seen vertical tubes next to trees here, which facilitate  direct watering to the roots. These must be effective.

I have also seen the plastic bags which you refer to somewhere, maybe it was in the US.

I like your pictures. The wheelie bit looks a little out of place there. I am surprised that it ever gets emptied, but rural councils seem much more obliging. Don't get me started on our council services! (or lack of)

Heather,   Sorry about the doldrums. Maybe the Queen Mum was right.

Lindy,    You seem to be having a sociable time in your neighbourhood. That is nice, even if not so good for the waistline!

We have just been down in the garden for drinks with neighbours. Sorted a few things out. (as you do)

  • Thank you Diane for starting us off again. Love the pic of the mountain goat.

Annette - Hope you had a great time with your sister. Lovely pictures of the Lincolnshire countryside and the Knights Templar tower.

Another lovely day here - had a great Songs of Praise for Pentecost this afternoon at the church I attend with tea and cake afterwards.

Managed to get in to see a doctor next week re this problem I have of falling (ie leg giving way or maybe an arm) Can't explain it properly but we'll see what the doc has to say, or not.

Do hope you all had a great weekend, now back to the nitty gritty of everyday life.

  • Thank you Diane for starting us off.

I’m back from bus trip, but going out to a History Festival event this morning. Goodness only knows when you will get the trip saga, let alone the Albury trip. It was a good weekend. We were at dinner for The Event (evening our time) and Friend & I did not turn on TV when we returned to our room, so I’ve only seen today’s paper, still multiple pages.

Annette - When people ask what will I photo when I finish churches, I answer "rubbish bins".

  • Good Morning, on another sunny day, here: we are having to get into a garden watering routine now as there hasn't been any rain here for a long time.

Tried out some new solar outdoor lights I bought, last night. Thinking of taking them to Wales. They worked very well and were surprisingly bright!

Hope the docs can sort you out, Lynette - it's rather worrying if you keep falling. Hope the bruises are going down.

Looking forward to your bus trip stories, AQ, however long it takes!

(Surprisingly dramatic pictures of the lava flow on the volcano that's erupting in Hawaii!!)

  • I have a friend who lives on Hawaii, about seven miles from the volcano.  She has not had to evacuate her home as the lava is flowing away from her - at the moment.  She and her neighbours are hoping it doesn't change direction.  She says it's spectacular, especially when the lava hits the sea - but still quite scary.
