So maybe Junior has an overactive prefrontal cortex nidopallium caudolaterale, interfering with an osprey male's specific natural instincts? Whatever the reason, he has gone back to his disappointing performance or lack thereof, showing up only to land on EJ's back in the morning and/or evening, NO FISH, leaving EJ to defend the nest on her own. She did look much better after yesterday's fish, doing some heavy lifting on the nest. And then the encroaching intruders, some of whom had dangled feet over the nest but left no indication of ring-ness. The Blue Darvic FN3 male was reported by RSPB FB as being perched on the camera tree for a bit while EJ yelled at him. Was he also on the cam post beside the nest? "Can you believe it?" says EJ. Plenty of disappointment all around; I think we'll have to live with it. Dream away, EJ, to better times ahead.© RSPB - Loch Garten and Carnyx Wild_______________________________________The Daily Update is for recording nest events only, allowing for banter, though—any questions or conversations can happen on the Osprey Chat thread. A beautiful scene.
Good Morning SCYLLA and MIKE if you can call it good with GJ reverting to his previous non-male osprey like behaviour This is the worst scenario we dreaded
I'd love to know whether RD has any insightful thoughts
Poor EJ calling again

She was gone longer than for a bathroom break and returned from a different direction than usual.

Good morning my fellow Ospreyholics
Thanks for all the updates etc. Here's to EJ getting a big juicy fish. C'mon George! Get your tail feathers in gear.
Looks beautiful at LG in the morning light, with EJ looking her usual phenomenal self.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
A short burst of chirping, then silence again.
Aviemore ospreys fb page.
Good morning all.
Two calling geese just flew over waking EJ from her slumber
I've been reading - and watching - with interest, even though not posting.
Seems to me that, IF the osprey referred to by Aviemore Ospreys is GJ, then it's yet another pointer towards him being a very young, and inexperienced, osprey ............... probably in his first year of mating.
It's no wonder that he's struggling to 'come up with the goods' and seems confused at times. He's like a young teenager (with rampant hormones) trying to deal with the demands of a 'woman who knows what she wants/needs in life', but keeps getting her signals all wrong. Maybe he doesn't even have the experience to know WHAT to do with the egg that is probably not his - especially if he's never been part of 'raising a brood' before.
