  • OG --  Your trip sounds good, although it was a shame about the tyre, and the bed.  We can't cope in a small double, and often opt for twin beds if there's not  a king size available, so I do sympathise. (My OHs big feet might have something to do with it!)

Successful visit to the hairdresser, where the whole place was a'twitter with the news that Prince Charles is going to do the honours for Megan. It seems a sensible solution, as at least he won't be overcome by the occasion, and might be a steady influence for the Bride.

  • LINDA - I agree about Prince Charles escorting Meghan tomorrow - it's not a case of giving her away, modern women are neither sold nor given in marriage!  Apparently, it was Meghan who suggested him and he accepted as a way to welcome her into the family!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Been to get my wonky filling fixed, and sitting down now after baking two batches of cakes. Making small fairy cakes and also some teeny tiny ones: I found some small cake cases for them. This morning I made 22 bite sized sausage rolls before I went out!

Neighbour who lives nearby compared notes: she is making muffins, so we are different at least. Have put some Union Jack bunting in our front window, and found a pair of Union Jack earrings which I bought when Prince William got married!

Lovely sunshine here today. My OH has at least had a sit in the garden, as he was going to cut down some of our big clematis which has been damaged by the winter weather, but he found a blue tit nest in it!

  • Been planting out container annuals this afternoon - now OH is outside again tying up the Tomatoes.  J has gone to a folk music session in nearby village.  It isn't warm enough to be out there in the breeze although the sun is lovely - not moving much, I find it quite chilly, so I get left on my own indoors.

I couldn't think why you are baking so much, LINDA, then realised at last - sounds like you are having a street party for the royal event tomorrow - and really getting involved with bunting etc.  Not my scene at all, but I hope you enjoy a safe and happy time!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • PS Congrats on the nests in your garden - nearest we have to that is Sparrows bringing their loud babies to feed on the back fence!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • The Magpies are still busy feeding however many chicks they have, but we can't see into the nest. We have at least four sparrow nests in the hedges.

Yes, we were invited to a Street Party only a street away from here. No idea how many people are coming, but online say that they have organised themselves for getting the street closed for the day, putting up bunting and organising barbeques, etc. They invited people from four streets, so it should be jolly!  We are not involved, have left that to all the younger ones, but we're requested to bring food and plates. My OH would rather sit in the garden but our neighbours and myself have persuaded him!  I don't suppose we shall stay too long ;-)

  • Hi, all! I've had thunderstorms every day for a while. Today I found a quite large bird's nest blown down and lying in my driveway lane. It didn't look like it had ever had chicks in it. I hope the birds were able to build another nest quickly.

I have insomnia tonight, but it's late so I'm off to try to sleep. Enjoy your street parties and the festivities.

Annette: I'll start the thread this evening. You sound busy getting things done, and you will want to watch the wedding.

  • Good Morning, All.  Sorry about the thunderstorms Diane :-(   you get more than your share of rough weather.

Sunny and bright, here, and set to be a perfect day for The Wedding, not too hot. (Although they said it was very cold last night in Windsor, for those who camped out!)

  • I was in the doldrums yesterday but have been looking in and have kept up to date!! Thank you, OG for the story of your trip, I enjoyed reading it - so happy that it went well (mostly!).

LINDY- Hope everyone has a good time at the street party.

Enjoy the day, everyone, however you are spending it!
