Our fretting resulted in a kind opinion from Jess Tomes yesterday, who reminded us about the opportunity to view nature through RSPB's "window". Amidst our collective restlessness, speculation ranged from whether George indeed recognized at least one of the eggs was not his, whether the eggs would bear healthy osprey, whether the eggs could be taken and hatched elsewhere (even moved to the LOCH ARKAIG nest where the resident pair suffered a loss of their eggs to a pine marten), to whether EJ's disinterest in mating affected George, to whether the nest might soon belong to another osprey than EJ, who many believe to be getting on in her years, to her apparent accelerated feather moult, and the nature of "crop dropping". Inevitably, we have come up with nothing better than Pandy's poem as we watch, and wait. It will be 7 days since EJ has had a meal. So maybe she will go fishing for herself this weekend.
Here was George on May 1st, as we were cheering him on with hearts full of hope. good morning everybody what a sad state at LG EJ losing feathers no food no calcium no new feathers. when the new feathers do appear they will have a thing called fret stress she will also have short stumpy feathers. going to try to answer moffers question from last night about crop drop. made numerous phonecalls to my friends and the only conclusion we can come to they only do this when there is food in the crop. is there any chance that EJ has eaten when the camera has gone down? ospreys will eat carrion when pushed ie a rabbit. and as for George cant get my head round it normally he is serving another nest but I don't really no he is messing my head up. what do you think mike with the situation with George and can you answer me a question please when osprey chicks are born can they see or are they blind the situation doesn't look to good for EJ I fear this will be her last season at LG.
Tony I have thought for a long time that George is involved with another nest. He may have been deciding which one to go for in the early days but I think EJ lost out.
As for chicks, I really don't know, but by their actions from the very first day I'd say they can probably see.
Birdies LG DU update.

Some people think Ospreys are a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.
