We discussed yet again the possible causes of EJ's predicament - this time the eggs took the brunt. We learned that EJ was drinking from a nearby puddle, so we know at least that she won't be dehydrated.
GJ called in for the second night running, landing on EJ's back for a quick paddle, standing for a moment, and leaving.
Other than that, I can't think what to say.

EJ is calling and calling :'(
IMAGICAT
I read George Anderson's stuff on the LA page. Including this, which puts in better terms what I've been thinking about the LG nest. (re the idea of taking EJ/s eggs and putting them on the LA nest)
'The nest is failing because of a parenting situation. In natural selection terms - if George isn't up to snuff as a Dad then that trait might be more likely in any offspring. This is the mechanism through which nature keeps species adapted to survive.'
Doesn't make it any easier to watch EJ of course, who we know is a good mother.
Not gone yet. Am compelled to remark (again?) what a windy season it's been so far. Sounds cold and wicked.

We have no idea what George would be like as a dad. All we do know is that like every other male osprey he does not want to provide for chicks that are not his.

Well who knows what George knows! On 24 April, with 2 eggs on the nest, and one to go, he was providing, incubating and protecting the nest. Let's remember happier times with scylla's capture from then

Some people think Ospreys are a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.
