HAPPY NEW WEEK!

I hope everyone has a wonderful spring week!

I chose this photo for the week for a reason. The last time I went to town for groceries and supplies, I stopped to take some items to my relative who broke her hip. I arrived home very late. I was unloading the car in the darkness, barely able to see with a torch (flashlight), and suddenly I heard a booming loud call, "Who cooks for you! Who cooks for you all!" That's the call of a Barred Owl! The sound was coming from a tall tree on my creek levee.

I was just about finished getting everything inside, when the bird called again. This time, he made his "monkey call." Barred Owls can make a wild series of calls that sound just like a big, loud primate. Seriously. Many years ago, we had a Barred Owl pair nesting on this patch, and my Mom swore we had a Bigfoot living in the woods!

I was so happy to hear the big owl, and I hope he stays!

  • Just had chish & fips, courtesy of the deep freeze!

Was told to write my query/complaint in a box on screen which would be sent onward to the suppliers, but I think the problem with delivery really lies with the carriers, who in this case are the Royal Mail. That does not make me feel any better, knowing their abysmal track record.....

  • Heather: Sorry you've more family problems. A listening ear is a very valuable thing!

  • Just a teaser for now. This pic taken late afternoon returning to Albury after our visit to Wagga Wagga. Soon after passing through wee settlements of Burrumbuttock & Jindera, we watched the sun disappearing behind the hills. Snapped through bus window. I have been posting my pics on flickr here, but I shall process some scenery for you . . . eventually.

  • Oops, forgot to give you flickr link, now here.

  • Good Morning.  Strangely misty here this morning.

Thank you for your pic, AQ. Will look at your link soon.

My OH is hacking away with a bad chest, since his recent cold. He coughed a lot with his previous cold, (which was the one he gave to me!) and then caught another cold after that. I've nagged him to keep warm: It was so chilly here yesterday evening that we put the heating on.

Today he's off to help a relative move an awkward large piece of furniture, so I've had to nag about taking care of his bad back, too!

  • LINDA - should your OH take his cough and back to the doc?  They could be connected!

AQ - great sunset pic - looking forward to more scenery.  Hope the cold is clearing up.

HEATHER - hope family problem is cleared up by your listening ears watching over them - mixed metaphor there, but you know what I mean!

Fine weather here today - could be travelling in the rain tomorrow then three good days forecast!  Really?

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • It is a beautiful day here and I've been catching up in the garden and feeding Callum, who came to wash his car.

Haven't heard from youngest, so assume that things have calmed down somewhat. She really was very upset by things and it isn't made any better when her OH isn't there. He may be away until the end of June.

FB - happy that your eldest SD will be driving etc, soon. Also, you will be getting the help from your younger SD again.

AQ - Haven't yet looked at your pics, saving them for this evening!

LINDY - hope that your OH gets over his chesty cough, soon. He really is a treasure - helping everyone.

I know that I've missed replies - hope to be forgiven!

    Regards to ALL

  • It turned out to be a fairly nice day, here, in the end.  Warmer, and sunny through the clouds. Went to get my food shopping, and dived into the local Library as they had a book sale of old stock:  bought four children's picture books for only 50p each! for the grandchildren.

OG:   Thanks for your concern, but I only mentioned my OH's back as he has to be careful not to aggravate it: he is not in any bother with it at present. I think his cough will go in the fullness of time.  The piece of furniture turned out to be stubborn, and would not fit into the space desired, even when apparently, someone got a saw and cut a small piece of it off!  So it has now returned to the room from whence it came.

Heather:  A shame your Youngest has been upset, its at times like that you miss your OH, hopefully she can tell him about it on the phone.

Had talk with sis-in-law who is hosting a nice Sunday Lunch tomorrow so we are off there for roast lamb, and we are providing the Mint Sauce.

  • Packed!  Don't know what time we shall be ready to go in the morning!

Heather - pleased you did gardening again today - and fed Callum of course!  Assume things settled down in Elgin, and glad you didn't have to attend in person.

Linda - sorry your OH's efforts with the furniture were wasted - I always insist on detailed measurements when things like that are suggested - comes from my cabinet-maker Grandad: "Measure twice, Cut once"!  Enjoy the Lamb - and the Mint Sauce (best part!)

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Lindy- if you purchased the gift through Amazon. call Amazon's Customer Service, give them the order number and they will immediately replace the gift with a new one and send it on. I have had to do this twice and both times this is what they did.
