As a very wise old woman (who is too modest to be named) said yesterday "Deep breath! Let's see what today brings" ;-)
Probably the most beautiful female osprey in the world (compliments of Clare):
And the source of our discomfort, looking a little shamefaced, as well he might (compliments of Moffer):
Off we go !!!

Poor EJ, defending her nest alone still
I know Moffer, EJ still alarm calling, he is obviously not around so I really do hope that he is fishing and brings a fish soon for EJ.
It is getting hard to watch now.
I am going now as have some things to do.
Hope you get to see a fish come in soon.

Bye Mary.
I think this intruder must have been female by EJ's reaction. For her to leave her eggs and chase it. I think she would have sat tight, and just lunged at any male that tried to land.. Wow, an hour and a half EJ was defending on her own :o((
Morning Clare and Karen. I got wrapped up in my pics and missed you joining in.
The lack of fish is one thing but onther thing that concerns me is the lack of excerise she is getting, surely she needs time to fly around and have some time to herself. I know that is human thinking, but the new boy is definatley not much good at all.
Male on the nest - no fish, but attempted to mate.
male now incubating
That's not what she was after, GJ:
She's off:
Here he is again:
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
I'm beginning to think that his rampaging hormones are a big part of the problem. He's clearly still feeling rampant while EJ, having produced her three eggs, is clearly not. I wouldn't mind betting he's checking out every single female in the vicinity, purely for relief. If I'm right I sincerely hope he calms down soon as he has a mate (and incoming chicks) who need him.
Good Morning, well poor EJ has had some morning already and it is only 8.45am, where was that boy? When he eventually came back, he had no fish and wanted a bit of the other. Oh Georgey Boy please up your game for us here, the lady is hungry, GO AN GET HER A FISH. Lovely captures in the morning sun.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
EJ's back, calling for fish
