As a very wise old woman (who is too modest to be named) said yesterday "Deep breath! Let's see what today brings" ;-)
Probably the most beautiful female osprey in the world (compliments of Clare):
And the source of our discomfort, looking a little shamefaced, as well he might (compliments of Moffer):
Off we go !!!

The Daily Update is for recording nest events only, allowing for banter, though—any questions or conversations can happen on the Osprey Chat thread. Thank you!

Oh EJ has chased someone away, she was chirping then got up and flapped her wings then just helicoptered up and off.
I will let Moffer provide the caps, she is so much faster than me LOL...
EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
She's back
She is back, more alarm calls, then settles on the eggs.
Morning Patily. I missed your post in the alarm calling posts.
Morning Patily
Great caps Moffer, you even got her going straight up from the nest, can't recall seeing her just lift off like that before, maybe the wind caused her to do that.
Oh come on G. pleeeease bring in a fish for beautiful EJ. I hope he has found Aviemore Lochan, it is a bit more sheltered from the wind.
Morning ALL - thanks for all the updates and captures.
I wonder what/who the intrusion was?
Trying said: I have been watching for some time how much EJ seems to be paying attention to a maybe troublesome right foot, often tucking it under her when standing as if to take her weight of it, or flexing it to exercise the claws/talons, or nibbling at it with her beak, far more than any attention she pays to the left foot. Anyone else noticed, or got a comment to make about my observation.

Hi Trying - yes, I mentioned seeing this a couple of times over a week ago and wondered if anything was wrong especially as at the time we thought she may have dropped a fish as she returned back to the nest so quickly.
In addition to what you describe I have also seen her shake the foot. I actually began to wonder if it was a nervous thing?

Trying said:Makes me think more of some sort of arthritic type condition.
Trying - could very well be considering her age! Something to keep an eye on :-)
Considering EJ's age I would think also that its an arthritic thing, if she is anything like me the old bones stiffen up over night and takes a bit of flexing to get them going in the morning again, anyone of a certain age (including EJ) will know what that is like. :-)
