Such a beautiful Osprey:
A subdued start to the new day, as LMAC unmasked the anxieties that many have had about GJ's unreliability, here and here, with convincing evidence.
A virtually fleshless fishtail was all that was brought for EJ to eat yesterday, she was gone for under 45 minutes.
GJ wasn't seen again until evening, when he popped in and almost straight out again.

The Daily Update is for recording nest events only, allowing for banter, though—any questions or conversations can happen on the Osprey Chat thread. Thank you!

It certainly is Mike. I am going to read back all the posts, as where did he produce that tail end of a fish from.
EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
"Good" morning, MARY and MIKE :(

That's all I'm doing, MARY, am so crushed and depressed. I know it says bad things about me but I have to admit it.
The sound is in a fluttery phase, EJ's voice distorted. Recovered thank goodness.
So at 05.06 as per Moffer's post GJ is on the nest mating. Then at 05.53 he turns up with a measly tail end of fish for EJ.
How did he manage to go catch a fish then eat nearly all of it in that time.
It will be interesting to see when we get a blog from the VC what their take is on what is happening on the nest.
I will be absolutely heartbroken if EJ does not have chicks to fledgling stage. :-(
There is nothing 'bad' about your thoughts MC. It is the harsh reality of the situation!
Birdies LG DU update.
I know SCYLLA, we all know its nature and these things happen, and we have probably thought to ourselves that GJ is not delivering enough fish for EJ, but sometimes when EJ was incubating Odin did not deliver great big whoppers for her either.
I'd prefer to wait and see what happens in the next few weeks, rather than focusing on the negative at this moment in time, I feel its like tempting fate, so don't want to think along those lines. That's just me, but have to say I felt so sad seeing that fish tail arrive this morning.
EDIT: I am not referring to your post Scylla when I say focusing on the negative, I am referring to the post your provided a link to yesterday.
EJ's return, shortly after which a bird (osprey, I reckon) soared and swooped down in the distance.
You're in the bad books, GJ >:(

Thank you for the timings, I was thinking that it must have been a tiddler (a) for him to have eaten so much of it, almost unheard of, and (b) to have done so so quickly :o

And that's another thing ;) I have thought of it when others have "complained" about GJ. This chap is taking the biscuit, tho :(
Deep breath! Let's see what today brings :)
Good Morning all It is with a certain amount of trepidation that I come to see the beautiful EJ who is now shouting loudly for breakfast
Exactly Scylla, lets see what happens. I look forward to a blog from the VC and see what their take is on the situation, they are the people who sees what is happening around and off the nest day on day.
